Protesters in Kenya none-too-happy at the new eco-taxes.
Parliament at least briefly occupied. Reports of live rounds being fired, seemingly confirmed by this video

Video was taken from just outside Parliament. I've geolocated it to here
https://www.google.com/maps/place/1%C2% ... ?entry=ttu

Some of the protesters taking the opportunity for a late breakfast in Parliament's cafeteria, forks optional.
Well, Man Utd fans; what else did you expect? ;)))

Telegraph reporting 8 dead and 50+ wounded, presumably all protesters.

Orange is down. Went onto their website:
Orange Botswana acknowledges the frustration of customers across the country as regards the quality of network coverage on voice and data from last week, and which persist to date. We continue to work to resolve the current network challenges and this remains our greatest priority. It is a lot to ask, we recognise, but we humbly request that you bear with us as we work to restore your confidence and comfort in our services.
No apology just:
We are all in this together and together we will prevail.

OK this drilling rig got stuck in the dried up lagoon about 100m from this location by the safari camp. They dug it out from a point fairly close to the shore. Then they took it further out onto the lagoon where the ground is softer. Of course it sunk again. Then they took the back right wheel off and dug a big hole under where it had been. Put it back on. Now before we left 30 mins ago they have three wheels well and truly sunk in apart from the back right which is left suspended above a huge hole. ^!

They can't even harness up some local hippos to drag it out.

They got it out after dark. Yes indeed no hippos to help, or hinder.

Amazon delivery today. Black lad, looked about 16, straight out of the townships. Hair cornshuck style. Big van. Told him to reverse direction 30' away up at the corner. No, I do it here (narrow part of road). Missed hitting my front wall, ignored the foot high drain manhole, right over it. Cracking and crunching sounds. Handed me my parcel, we exchanged high fives, he drove off with a grin, parts of the vehicle underside left strewn in the grass. Sound like Africa ?

A building has collapsed in Nigeria’s megacity, Lagos, once every two weeks on average so far this year....

There are regulations, there are maintenance schedules, there are inspectors – but the system does not work.

Lagos, dubbed by one expert who spoke to the BBC as " the building-collapse capital of Nigeria", has seen at least 90 buildings falling down in the last 12 years, leaving more than 350 people dead, according to the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
