It appears that he is in Singapore.

They seem to have some good doctors there!

When I lived in that part of the world Ian, the hierarchies of the surrounding countries used to fly into Rand, and be chauffeured to Baragwanath. BaraG being the best equipped and staffed hospital in the whole of Africa for the indigenous population.

Time for a change!

The Crane is the best photo I ever took.

At 100 x 100 pixels, it doesn't look its best.

What you see is less than one third of the original 35mm neg.

The bird looked at me, I lifted my camera, zoomed a little, focused, saw that the exposure was about right and released the shutter.

All done manually with a Pentax MX and Vivitar 75-210 lens.
This is at 640 x 490 pixels

This was another shot that day. If he had been scratching his starboard wing, it would probably have looked better.

In this shot you can see I was shooting into the sun, for 'the portrait' it probably helped his hair do to stand out, but it did nothing for this shot.

But with critters you have to take you chance.
