...... as one of the 'perceived benefits' when the building of the Square Kilometre Array in the Northern Cape was punted.

Just how may current commercial a/c manage FL600 anyway? Or might 18,500 metres be an error?

Ian, 60,000 feet is pretty much a standard safety for electric jets. It will apply to military as well I assume.

The local military don't have any money for fuel.

They only 'fly' sims!

Could have put the whole thing in Western Australia without any problems but no, politics got in the way which is why half the system will be built in South Africa and half in Western Australia!
