Good news from New Zealand! :-bd

Built by de Havilland Hatfield as FB.VI. Delivered to RNZAF as NZ2384 in April 1947. Used privately from 1953 to 1959. Acquired by Rod Lewis circa 2017. Sent to New Zealand for restoration by Avspecs. First flight after restoration 13 January 2019 at Ardmore, New Zealand, piloted by Steve Hinton. Registered in New Zealand as ZK-BCV, the registration it wore between 1953 and 1955 after RNZAF service.

The Mosquito is probably the only aircraft that would displace the Lancaster from my alltime favourite aircraft.

Why is it wearing D-Day stripes if it was first delivered in 1947?

Seems to have four tubes sticking out the front of the nose. I wonder if they're real working weapons? How accurate was the restoration?

Isn't that what got the irascible and irrepressible Maurice Kirk into hot water with the unimaginative minions of the law?

Slightly out of date but amusing or enraging depending on your point of view.

In places.

That goes back a few decades, no problem now. Look for Gull stations, they're usually cheaper than the others, but you might find them "unattended" so you'll need a credit card ( and a bit of intelligence ! )

Good vid Caco! Glad to see a Spit was thrown in too. 👍🏻

Ref NZ: the Kiwis have the best meat in the world - better than Oz, Argentina or the States. We still buy it when it's in town.

Particularly their lamb. Single farmers have been known to take their sheep to bed with them. Don't know if it improves the meat though. ;)))

I met Mr Kirk in Wales back in the 90's. He was a tall, formidable contrarian and irascible character who later ended up punching one of the aircraft engineers who worked with the maintanace outfit I used to attend. I am a fan, not least because he is clearly quite mad.

Last seen by me at Farnborough, many years ago, next to an old VW Kombi, surrounded by old biplanes and even older dogs, lazing on blankets in the sun! Long may he abide.

Not as mad as you Slash, of course! ;)))

I am quite nnnnnnnormal! =))

When you get here and receive your PA18 training Caco I'll be in the back seat of the Cub knocking off a bottle of 'shine while you're up front trying to work out how to land the bloody thing.

That doesn't mean I'm crazy...does it? 8-}

Nah. Course not. Just eccentric and a tiny tinny short of the six pack.

I prefer to alcoholically think of it as meaning I have total faith in your abilities as an airman! :-bd

I fly like an eagle. I am not a fearful man! Your cub is perfectly safe with me! Now what does this lever do? "SCRUNCH"... oops...! =))
