Which is why you need to set your router to accept log in from only local connection - and preferably just a wired connection, not WiFi.

Need to know which router. You are looking for 'Remote Access' or similar. You are pretty safe if you have changed the password, however - unless you would be an 'interesting hack' for someone.

Mine has a tick box on the "Management" set up page, "Allow management from the internet". On the same page it also allows changing the port used for management - I do this as routine for an extra level of security - I change it from port 80 to ... well it wouldn't be secure if I told you what it was. I then have to access it by putting 192.168.1.1:xxxx in the browser address bar where xxxx is the port number I chose.
