Mi Band 4 connection issues.

#1 Post by Rwy in Sight » Fri Jul 02, 2021 6:56 pm

My Mi Band 4 is an excellent device offering useful services including the weather forecast. Over the last few days when the weather function is opened a cloud with a question mark appears and it says" Connect to MI Fit to get weather info". The band is connected to my Xiaomi 9T and it shows correctly steps and calls between bands and mobile. I have switched off and back on the band, reconnected it to the mobile. I don't remember an update on the Mi Fit band.

Does any of this band owners have similar issues? If yes how did they solve them?

No issues, but somewhere in a location my addled brain has forgotten, you have to tell the app the location you wish to use for the weather forecast.

The new, amazingly cheap, TP router that I bought last week is so 'good' - power and connection - that I switched both Xiaomi phones and the Huawei tablet from the old to this new router. Whereupon I lost the connection to the Google Homes and Kasa switches.

Simple enough to reload but made my grey matter squeak.

It seems there is an issue with the Mi Fit app and the Xiaomi 9T mobile. I tried to connect my previous band (Mi3) on the 9T - after I left the 4 for some inspection/ check by the local Xiaomi brunch. The 3 did connect to the 9T but it didn't show the weather either. Then I used my old Xiaomi 4X to connect the 3 and it showed the weather at once or almost. I tried to connect the 3 on the current mobile (9T) and the weather function failed again to work. I erased the MiFit app from the mobile and I would wait to get a call from the maintenance store download it again when I take delivery of the inspected band - I don't think they will find anything wrong by it.

Amazon have a multiplicity of alternative wrist bands for the MiFit. Expanding metal straps in thrilling and interesting designs and colours, €9.99.

My band has gone for servicing (the mobile doesn't connect with the band for it to show the area correctly on the weather function) so I don't have the opportunity to use it during the current heatwave. However I feel the band material copes well with the heat and does not annoy my skin like other plastic bands used to do.

However the idea of a metal strap sounds worth exploring

Unlike my other metal band of which the paint wore off and on which the Mi thingy pushed in from underneath, on this one the thingy pushes in from above and two rubbery plastic arms click into the slot at each end. It's a tight fit to get it in and out. No, the band isn't really a tight fit on my wrist. Later models, possibly 5 and certainly 6, do not require dissassembly to charge.

The metal strap comes with a tool to remove pins and hence links in the strap. In my case two links need removal for wearing on the left wrist and three for the right wrist (!)

I am told than no two reciprocal (?) part of the human body are identical in size - it applies to arm and very often women's breast.

OFSO do you manage to get it tight enough to use the heart rate function?

Yes, has always worked perfectly. Well......I sleep on that side and twice, in my sleep, pressure on the artery has blocked the flow of the claret and caused the MiFit to record null punts for some time.

New band failed. I think that although it's advertised for the 4 and the 5, it's almost impossible to get the 4 out for charging. Broke it while doing so, returned to Amazon.
The 5 has a different charging system.

Bought a nice leather strap from Nanning Mibusi in China. Came with fixings for the Mi 3/4 and 5/6. Just over €9 from Big River.
