Sticky keys ?
Windows H'eight.
I've just wiped my History from my Chrome Browser, and instead of selecting each individual webpage recorded, I elected to delete all, but this has also wiped out my ability to shut down by selecting Windows Key + X, or return to the desktop by using Windows Key + D.
How do I restore this convenient ability ?

Restart?
Btw, a combination I found out recently (yeah, probably should have earlier!) is pressing Ctrl to do things word-wise (like: Ctrl+Delete deletes words instead of letters, Ctrl right arrow moves a word at a time etc).

When you (ie me) inadvertently change something that you don't want, I tend to 'unplug/shut-down' without exiting properly then restarting, hoping that the changes haven't been saved.

Re: Sticky keys ?
Do you not have an "undo" function either on the task bar or in 'Edit'?
It's always my fault - SWMBO
Re: Sticky keys ?
I was thinking more about changes that result in something disappearing.
I don't know of a universal undo button.

Re: Sticky keys ?
Dare I say it ? I also asked this over on TOPP, and a contributor suggested plugging in another keyboard via a USB slot, and trying that, the rationale being that I was unlikely to have accidentally deactivated my Windows key by screwing up the Registry, or the like, and maybe my key has just packed up and gone home ?
Sadly, the hypothesis was correct, the satellite Windows key did everything expected of it. Buggerit.

I use El Cheapo cordless keyboard & mouse by Genius. R299/£16.60/US$20.81 I treat them as consumables.

Re: Sticky keys ?
Just had a Grey loerie (Corythaixoides concolor) deposit a whole load of ***** on my laptop keyboard. It has all oozed between the keys. I vaguely remember someone saying that the keys flip out and push back in. Can anyone confirm before I start ripping keys out.

Re: Sticky keys ?
While the key caps may pop out goo might seep in. Coffee certainly did. My Elonex keyboard was quite mechanical and replacements not cheap. On the basis that it could not be more f'd than it already was I opened it up.
The keyboard case and keys were removed, washed and dried. The electronics were wiped and dried, but the keyboard membrane still had coffee in it. I carefully peeled about 4 layers of plastic that had the different key matrix on them, dried each, reassembled and it all worked though not quite as new.

If thing look like getting VERY expensive, the option of a cordless keyboard might be attractive.
They start at about R299 down here.

Re: Sticky keys ?
Thanks guys. G-CPTN I searched and apparently they will remove. It has kind of all dried now and worked its way under so I will not interfere unless a key stops working.
OFSO if it had been a hippo I would have had other things to worry about.
Ian this is reaching the end of it's life. I would just buy new.
