izod - yes, a VB is an option, but just running cursed Windows is in many ways simpler! That judgement is, of course, open to review as M$ goes its merry intrusive way of world domination.

Another example of the non-interchangebility of software - I use a particular lighting board for lighting amdrams shows. There is a 'simulator' for the board on which you can fiddle/practice/screw things up at will. My 'new' assistant 'under-training' uses a Mac.

The software for the sim is Windows and Mac but NOT for the latest Mac OS - which luckily he does not have! Otherwise he would have to VB or Windows bridge.

Well, exSp33 - we all know what we are talking about.......... :))

Making progress.
Now have Firefox V65.0.1 64-bit, behaving as I want.

ian - I am finding that version a bit slower - handshaking seems more convoluted - and as with all FF (frequent!) updates, many sites do not update themselves quickly and I cannot access them fully - particularly banks etc, where I sometimes have to revert to (spit) Edge. I'm thinking of dumping FF 'Quantum' - not sure what 'improvements' it really offers. Anyone else think it is ok?

Found a suggested fix for FF Quantum speed issues:

Options/Privacy and Security/Permissions/Tick the 'Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser' box, Restart.

Waiting to judge the effect!

Computers and Air Conditioners share a common characteristic. They both work well until you open windows.

Making steady progress.

An old problem, that I haven't found the fix in Win/10 yet.

When I enter ' nothing is displayed until the next key is pressed.

I know it is because I use a US (International) keyboard and I speak English (UK), but I ain't found out how to fix it in Win/10.

Re Firefox lack of speed, a long time ago Alison recommended Pale Moon as a Firefox replacement and I’ve found it very satisfactory.
