Printer Required
My current Canon Printer/Scanner has packed up and I am in the market to replace it.
I would like a printer that can print on CD's and DVD's, but they seem to have all gone off the market.
Anyone know different?

The Canon TS8200 series do, I bought a TS8250 for £130 from PC World about a month ago.

I bought a Canon PIXMA on special offer under £30 from Robert Dyas last year for the London flat. Otherwise always been an HP fan. Have had an Epson, with fairly infrequent use ink kept drying out, never happened with HP. Also the Epson had an overflow pad which needed technician to replace. And the occasional paper jam very difficult to fix. Chucked it and went back to HP.

Re: Printer Required
Or you could buy a Printer Potty and do it yourself. I did that for my last Epson. The only downside being that it is fitted outside the printer body, the upside being it is easy to drain if it fills up again. Printer Potty for Epson Inkjets

Re: Printer Required
I'm now looking at this range, but it is immense and unclear what the differences are between models.
Visiting this page and following the 'select your product' routine, I end up with the recommendations of a load printers. Only 8 of which 'meet all of my requirements'! This list includes my old printer, which is not available.
Searching for local prices, I can only fine 2 mentioned.
These are the TS8240 at R2179 and TS9140 at R3390. A difference of 55%.
But when I use the website 'compare' function, I have 2 identical lists of functional features.
Today, your £130 = R2380.
Baffled I am.

Re: Printer Required
It looks like you pay over R1000 more for a slightly larger display, that's the only difference I can see.
Re: Printer Required
I got fed up with drying ink and invested in a laser printer. The toner refills are £ouch but on the plus side, I don't need to replace them nearly as often, still early into the life of the first replacement set and the printer is a couple of years old. Some of the all-in-ones are good, mine has a document feeder and as it's an office model, I have it set up to send scanned documents to a drive on the home network. Pays for itself at tax time, because I just scan all tax-related documents when they arrive so even if I lose the paperwork I still have copy. Had a 100% success rate this year, didn't have to go looking for any of them.

Re: Printer Required
Llondel, at work we always kept spare ink carts ready. We received a new colour laser (game on) but being cautious I ordered spare toners, 4 off.
Ouch as you say.
The potential bill was £4,000 and exceeded the entire quarterly budget for my parent unit. I didn't get my spares.

Re: Printer Required
I bought the famous from the other thread HP printer/scanner because I needed to use some gift vouchers. I still have the original toner, and as I had an other voucher to use a new toner refill was bought. Few months ago the black version was at around 80 or something Euros. However they were running a sale and the final price was 48 something Euros - my voucher was for 50 € and as a plus they had it in stock. Two pluses in one afternoon. The original refill still has some 50 pages to go, but if I keep printing test pages I would have a problem. My only issue now is for how long the refills for my machine would be available. And based on my experience in the last few months, it would be an interesting task to change the refills.
However in my experience so far the cost is zero, since I didn't have any other use for the second voucher.
