New Canon TS8240 Printer, arrived yesterday and am I struggling with it?

Got it working on a USB cable connection so that Win/10 see's it.

MS Word and Firefox see it and print out OK, but Canon's own Easy-Photo editing s/w doesn't!

Also cannot get the WiFi side to work from my Win/10 laptop or Android phone.

More later.

I have had several wifi printers and none has worked properly. I have installed or tried to fix them for other people and never succeeded. A friend of mine who ran the IT department of a large company said that other than the large professional ones designed for multi user access over a company wifi, they are a waste of time and effort.

The most annoying thing is that I send something to the printer from one of the remote computers on the network, it disappears, so I go to the one that is wired to the printer, and print the document. Then 3 days later, the original one comes spewing out.

My previous Canon worked just fine.

Knocking wood but after several attempts to test the strerngth and the reliability of an HP WiFi printer/copier/laser it still operates formidably at least from the printer. I should check if it works from the mobile. In the last few attempts I put an app from a disc to the computer and the re-installation goes smoothly. I even change routers wit a minimum of fuss.

I bought a Canon for the London house as Dyas had them on special. Paid just over £25. Never got the WiFi to work. Biggest problem was drivers and setup were on a DVD and modern PCs don't have players. Got around that by downloading software off 4G onto my Huawei phone and copying it to the PC.

The missing DVD is becoming an issue.

I had my previous one, a Canon MX924, was fully operational as a USB connected printer/scanner to a Win/7 system, before I bought my laptop.

When I bought the laptop, with Win/10 installed, I added the WiFi capability without any trouble.

Then I acquired the Android Phone and this also worked OK.

Next my desktop was snagged and needed a new motherboard, which meant new CPU and a move to Win/10, installed on a SSD. All printer/scanner functions still worked fine.

Last month my printer went tits up and I had great trouble sourcing a new one that could print on CD/DVD's. I took delivery of my Canon TS8240 on Tuesday and my problems started.

The fact that I can print from the desk top via the cable connection means it isn't urgent. I'll have another go later today.

11 days later, after emptying brain, and starting again, it is ALL working!

This included printing on CD's and printing over Wifi from both Win/10 laptop and Android phone. :-bd

Mind you, CD printing has to be done with an old version of the Canon s/w, the new version doesn't 'see' the new printer.

I'll now lash out and buy a set of spare Ink Cartridges.
