The law of unintended consequences....

#1 Post by OFSO » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:22 am

Was I the only one to predict this ?

- His Royal Trumpiness orders sanctions against Huawei, the worlds second biggest-selling phone maker.
- Google state they will have to stop supplying the Android OS to Huawei for their phones.
- Huawei, who have already been developing their own OS, Harmony, for simple devices, announce in future it will be available open-source for phones

Next prediction:

- Huawei will sell their phones pre-installed with Harmony, not Android
- The Chinese get accesss to ALL our data, instead of only 90%.
- Samsung, who already use many components made by Huawei, start using Harmony on phones sold in the far east.
- Google is left weeping in the corner......

What about the play store? One buys a smart phone for the apps and if they are not available one goes to the next model/manufacturer.

The apps will follow the market. If Google is forced to stop supplying one of the biggest manufacturers, app writers will go there.

I was talking to my Godson this month. A brilliant young man studying dynamic fluid flow at uni. for aeronautics, for his Masters.

However. He bought a cheap Chinese phone (Ximei ?),
rooted it, wiped Android, bought a Chinese OS in beta, loaded it, had to wait 48hrs after purchasing the key, came with an app converter....he's very happy with it (and that he proved to himself he could do it). I cannot verify this but I have seen the phone, not Android, it works.

Underestimating what the Chinese are capable of would be a fatal error.

Unintended is rarely the best description for consequences.
Unwanted, yes.
Unpredictable (by the intelligent), definitely not.

It's what you get when alpha males see an easy root to a goal.

The same who say Bring me solutions not problems.
