Black and white flash of an Ops Normal page

#1 Post by CharlieOneSix » Sun Nov 17, 2019 5:40 pm

Does anyone else get a flash of a basic black and white Ops Normal page every time they select a new page. Just wondering whether its my setup or a slow server?

It only does it in Firefox. No problem with Pale Moon so not an Ops-Normal server issue. Tried TOP and it's the same there. Odd.

I use FF (70.0.1 64bit) and don't get the flash.

I would never admit to looking at the wrinkled rotting plum, but as you asked, I did, and don't get the flash there either.

I am using a Kindle, got a black flask as the keyboard slide up from the bottom and the black disappeared under the ON page.

Then further flash the other way when I sent it.

It's not doing it now on Firefox 70.0.1. Certainly not an Ops-Normal problem as it happened on other sites subsequent to my first post but it's clear now.

It's doing it again and seems this is called a FOUC - Flash of Unstyled Content - and it has been reported as a bug in Firefox for at least a couple of years. Doesn't happen on all sites. I haven't delved further into the why and wherefores. I certainly haven't had it before the latest update to 70.0.1 (64 bit). Mozilla Bugzilla thread - FOUC

I was having TLS handshake faults on Firefox this morning, I cleared the history etc and it seems to be working properly now.

Pale Moon was a fork off Mozilla Firefox some years ago. I've found it to be far more stable. Also loads two to three times faster.

Doing trials with Brave, its quick, but I'm having problems with URL's that are on my system.

Initially I thought this might be about the Vela incident which was put down to either computer or photographic artifacts but clearly I was barking up the wrong tree of inference there. :)
