Is anyone familiar with using The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) who is prepared to exchange PMs (so as not to bore everyone here ) ? I have just launched into the world of network cameras (a TAPO C200) which is most impressive and works a treat with the TP Android app. even if 'heavy' on data transfer!
I would like to set up a Windows laptop to access it but have reached a brick wall (using RTSP and VLC).
RTSP Protocol
Re: RTSP Protocol
Need a guru first!
Re: RTSP Protocol
What do you want to do exactly? VLC will stream direct from RTSP if you give it a suitable URL. My security system will allow me to specify
to VLC and it will then stream real-time what the camera is seeing.
If you're trying to stream from a particular device then you need to have some clue as to the URL it needs to access the stream.
Code: Select all
rtsp://user:password@host/Streaming/Channels/<channelID>
to VLC and it will then stream real-time what the camera is seeing.

Re: RTSP Protocol
Thanks, llondel, I have actually sorted it now - it was a problem with the tapo account set-up. It works fine with VLC on my home network. Next task is to set up access to the stream 'away' using no-ip and port 554. I have a support ticket in to no-ip to help me with the access to my router port as I hit another brick wall. I can access the router via no-ip but not the stream.
It really is a great little camera at an amazing price (Amazon)!
You enjoying, ian??
PS, llondel - I am also trying 'I-Spy' but again having set-up problems. I think is it age related

Re: RTSP Protocol
Too late, I fear. I've given up so far with I-spy and have it working well with Firefox and VLC.
