Video Players And DVD Rippers
Video Players And DVD Rippers
I replaced a failing hard drive with a 256G SSD and added a 2T HD for storage. The computer place couldn't clone my HD because of size difference so did a clean install of Windows 7. I lost some software in the swap.
I was using the included HP video player which was part of the HP suite, which I liked.
At the same time, the company whose software I was using to rip DVDs to my hard drive stopped working. It said that the discs were encrypted when they were not. The software maker said that they had stopped support for that program . Basically, too bad, so sad.
Any recommendations for a good video player and ripping software?
I was using 123CopyDVD which I liked because once set-up it did what I needed with no issues.
I am trying a few freeware rippers but I've not found one that was as easy as 123.

Same here, used to use CarryDVD, could rip a DVD small enough to play on a Kindle then it ran out of support.

1 more vote for DVDShrink, been using it for years.
I also use Freemake Video Converter with the minimum paid subscription, this subscription gets rid of the watermark.

I have downloaded Freemake but haven't gotten in to it yet.
This morning I got an email from them offering to open it up for a one time $5 payment.
The thing I liked about 123CopyDVD was that it would rip a movie only and put it in one file. Some rippers don''t differentiate and rip all the files. A real waste of time and drive space.

Anyone with experience of Freemake ripper?
I have used the freeware version a few times as it will work on DRM discs, but haven't any experience with paid version which claims faster ripping speeds and no watermark/logo on copies.
Handbrake seems to be working ok for non-DRM discs.

I use Freemake and have the minimum licence, that only removed the watermark.PHXPhlyer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 7:28 pmAnyone with experience of Freemake ripper?

I haven't tried ripping a DRM disk.
I have never had DVDShrink fail to read a DVD.
If you buy the 'speed up' licence I'd like to hear how it goes.

Freemake is offering the full package for $29.99 .
I don't know if that is for a one time deal or what.
I think I downloaded DVDShrink a few years ago. I may dust it off and give it a try. Prolly have to update it as well.

Dvdshrink hasn't been updated in yonks. The author was head-hunted and had to agree to not update Dvdshrink.
