Windows 10 v.2004 x64 - Kernel_Mode_Heap Corruption

#1 Post by CharlieOneSix » Wed Jan 06, 2021 10:59 pm

I had my first BSOD in 5 years of using Windows 10 this evening - the PC was on but not being used the first time it happened. The message was Kernel_Mode_Heap Corruption. I updated my graphics card driver as suggested on other forums but it has crashed twice more since, both times in the middle of writing an email using Postbox. It crashed that program on the second occasion but being IMAP it was easy to reconfigure and get my emails back.

All windows updates are up to date. Anyone else had this and if so what solved it? Cross fingers - no crash for over an hour now.

No closer but now able to look at PSU outputs thanks to 'john green'

I just get lockups but as my computer is 6 years old I suspect lack of resources.

When I turned the PC on this morning for the first full start since the initial BSOD it almost immediately asked if I wanted to do a disk scan. I clicked 'yes' and after about a minute a message said 'Scanning and repairing C:drive'. That was 5 hours ago and all seems well so hopefully fixed...... :YMPRAY:

It looks like your graphics driver might be the issue :

Although I would put my money on a corruption rather than an outdated driver. The corruption might actually just have been a momentary blip.

Hopefully your scan finishes soon.

The scan only took a minute or so. Normal operations for 5 hours with the new graphics driver installed.

Ah. I wasn't sure as sometimes a check on my machine appears not to stop. If I lose patience and reboot it is AOK.
