Updates - Windows v Android

#1 Post by Boac » Mon Jan 25, 2021 11:23 am

It struck me today how the Android updates just 'happen' and do not seem to produce all the angst that the Windows ones do. :-bd

Mostly true in my experience. However, I had a Google Nexus which was fine running Android 4.4, but became unusable after updating to v 5. I rooted it and returned it to v4.4 but it kept on auto updating to v5 so I replaced it with an iPad.

True, but I only run Android on 2 Samsung smartphones, that have very limited function when compared to my desktop PC.

Think what your state of mind would be if both mobiles had as much trouble with updates as your PC........................ =))

Mobiles do a lot of task daily including some serious stuff like running websites. Obviously if you run an AUTOCAD it is a different league.

I had an anomaly on an update on my Xiaomi mobile - it refused (post update) to allow me to install a background picture and fall back to one from the manufacturer. Not serious but annoying

I was thinking more in the line of driving hardware devices, DVD writers, HDD's, graphics adapters and printers.

My printer can receive a document to print via the WiFi from the mobile but that's about it. So you are right

Agree completely which is why updates are banned on my WIN devices. My phone is a Redmi (Xiaomi) with an occasional screen freeze, but only on Ops Normal!

You chaps will be amazed at the capacity of an Android phone. MIne does FTP, controls the TV. etc and makes tea and cooks cakes.
