http/https/Quora!!

Frightening! Yesterday I was trying to help a 'viewer' of an http website I run who was getting an access block. Not 16 hours later, a raft of Quora 'finds' about this. Be warned.

Boac, don't know if you are familiar with "Cookies Exterminator", an add-on to Mozilla/Firefox. Which also works on the Pale Moon browser. It keeps track of all the crap lodged by websites you visit on your system, and cleans up when you leave the site.

From the github source.
Cookies Exterminator for Firefox, Pale Moon and SeaMonkey. Auto delete cookies, localStorage and IndexedDB objects as soon as they become unused.

Thanks - I'll have a shuftie, but for a long time I have been convinced that Google 'leaks' to those who pay - I don't think it is a cookie problem.

EDIT: Seems not compat. with FF85. I will also need to be selective about deleting cookies, and particularly would like to just 'do' Google. I think I'll do the 'manual' bit and see what Quora finds.

Boac
Although there are other search engines, Google is, sometimes, the only option.
If you suspect leakage you can always search in a 'private' window (ctrl-shift-p) and all history, cookies etc. will be deleted when the window is closed.

Thanks, compo - that's a good idea, although it was more about trying to see how Giggle search actually worked than a matter of concern and no-one was trying to sell me anything. It would appear there is only one cookie generated by Giggle search out of the myriad of Giggle cookies. I have just searched hard for ear wax removal (as recently discussed by TGG =)) ) so I await the flood of 'handy hints' on Quora. I have cleared that cookie so I will watch with interest.

I though better of searching for intestinal worms.....................

Sorry guys but the days of cookies being the sole repository of data about your activities have long gone. HTML5, the latest incantation, has a whole raft of places where data is stored. Not only that some places transcend specific site storage. So one site can store data that can be accessed by other sites. :(

Do a Google search, and the next time, you will get results based on your previous search even if you do delete all cookies. :D
