BBC Radio on internet

#1 Post by OFSO » Sun Jan 21, 2024 1:23 pm

Neither Alexa nor Google can find BBC radio four on the internet since yesterday, and other than using the TOR Browser it's hard to get to stay on on our phones.

Have you linked your BBC account to 'BBC Sounds'?

Whenever I want to listen to Radio 4 I enter 'Radio 4 schedule' into my Chrome browser and it finds a link.

They’ve been pushing people to use the BBC Sounds app for a while now.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Yes, using Sounds. But only works by accessing with Tor browser set to UK.

BBC Radio 1 to 4, along with the local stations no longer broadcast on Tunein, which means you can't listen to them on older internet radios such as the Logitech Squeezebox.

I’ve downloaded the app, along with a couple of commercial stations onto my phone and they work fine in ZA through Wi-Fi.
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I can get it. I am running the Logitech Media Server on one of my machines here, and it has a BBC Sounds plugin, so all the Squeezebox-based devices I have around the house can listen live.

I found an app called Radio UK. Gets all BBC (radio) channels.

Thanks to an article in "Computer Active" magazine, I found www.radiofeeds.co.uk. Excellent for it's easy to use format, let alone the range of stations. I clicked on "add to home screen" and now have a simple on/off button* for favourite stations.

*Oh my what a giveaway. Remember those simple wireles sets, with a button for "BBC Light Program " ?
