Mouse and keyboard will not wake up displays. [-X
The ssdd is only a few years old.

Yes.
Power indicator lights up but that’s all.

Check 'internal' connections (if you feel happy opening the casing).
If necessary unplug data cables and re-seat.

Some plugs can be 'iffy' IME.

I called the repair place where I bought the desktop and he told me to hold the power button down and then restart it.
Doing that showed the power coming back on and showed disk activity and could hear the fan running but no displays.
The fan then turns off and no sign of disk activity.
I doubt that I will be taking it in to them for repair as I asked pricing to replace the batteries on my aged iPad and Samsung Galaxy 9 phone.
Quote was $50 for the iPad battery and $30 something for the phone battery.
Labor was quoted as $99 for each. Seems a bit steep.
I will be shopping around for other repair and battery replacements.

I used to frequent the (only) local computer shop and over the years have bought all my (secondhand) computers from them.
Recently a new 'front of house' chap has been employed and he is not as amenable as the owner.

Try the Apple method. The first Apple computers had a problem with cheap card sockets. The solution was to raise the computer about 6" over the desk and allow it to fall, reseating the cards.

Birmingham toolbag.

Small hammer, large hammer, condom.

Small hammer first. If that, then the large hammer doesn't work, f#ck it!

While exploring possible repair options for my desktop I have managed to get the 12 year old MacBook Air that I inherited from D#2 when she got a MacBook Pro to run programs required at Uni to connect to a display and connect to the wireless keyboard and a bluetooth mouse. #:-S
Only had to purchase a Thunderbolt 2 to HDMI cable which I got overnight from Amazon. Only $10. :-bd
Much better using the display and keyboard I am used to. The bluetooth mouse has only one quirk. The scroll wheel works backward and I don't know if there is a configuration fix as I am not Apple literate. ~X(
At least I don't have to rush to get the desktop looked after. Only drawback is that all of my movies and music run through it.I don't think that the external drives will play nice with Apple. :-??

Finally decided to bite the bullet and take unresponsive desktop to the computer doctor.
Turned out to be a failure of the graphics card. :((
Wallet lighter but slowly getting everything reconnected.
Wound up buying a used Surface Pro 4 and dock to use for travel, should I get back into that habit. All that I had was an old iPad that has a very tired battery. They want almost what a used iPad costs just to replace the battery. ~X(

Consult YouTube, see if there's a step-by-step guide to replacing the battery yourself. I've done that to a few phones and laptops, although we don't have Apple products here, they might not be as amenable to it.

And a used iPad probably has an equally-knackered battery, so you won't gain much from that approach.

I will probably upgrade my phone through my wireless carrier although the in-store reps can't get their story straight on what I qualify for.
While I was getting my desktop repaired, turned out to be a be a failed graphics card, I bought a used Surface 4 with an i7 processer with 16M Ram and 512G storage with a dock.
The dock didn't work and the tablet was wonky, so now waiting for them to either repair or replace.
They know that they screwed up so just waiting for resolution.

The iPad is now relegated to a spare screen. Battery life ~4 hours, so plugged in most of the time.
