San Fernando Valley

#1 Post by om15 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 3:03 pm

A post from LaserNigel on one of the other threads jogged a memory last week, a photo showing a very crowded San Fernando Valley.

I spent a brief time in Sylmar in the late 1970's, rented an old house on Herrick, still pretty sleepy place then, I understand that this area is now a leading contributor to the International Pornography business, there were no such interesting diversions as this when we were there.
Missus om was much taken with the new fangled supermarkets, being used to Lancashire corner shops, and the sunshine, fresh fruit and cheerful yanks gave us happy memories of our stay.

Aha! The "Pump Room"! Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Know what I mean? Say no more, say no more!

When I was staying in Canoga Park it took me a long time to work out what "Cyn" in Topanga Cyn stood for. I knew crescent, close and circle in road names but not Cyn. Then one day it clicked it was Canyon. Quite taken with the area. Some time later - 1994 I think, I recognised the building where I had worked. The ground floor had completely collapsed in an earthquake.
