I have an aerial photo of Cape Town, in my dining room, taken from about 5,000 feet in 1927. I have dated it from the details, the lower cableway station is visible but the upper not and it was completed in 1928. I paid ZAR 1 for it in 1976 in an auction in Wynberg. Think it might be worth a bit more now. Flash photo of it below which is rather poor I'm afraid.

Capetonian will you please stop encouraging people to visit the Mother City,it’s hard enough to use staff travel to get there and back
Especially as it’s over 19R to the pound

In my view CPT is over-touristed and under resourced and whilst I appreciate that tourism brings much needed income to a lot of people, the locals are suffering from high prices, traffic, pollution, lack of availability of hotel rooms, reasonably priced restaurants, and a lot more. Cheap air fares and AirBnB have a lot to answer for.

I was impressed by the amount of locals that I spoke to last month who wanted to know about Brexit, especially when you consider the problems facing ZA, don’t think that my answer of “ f***ed if I know “ was very helpful
Ps Eskom doing Level 4 load shedding today

Whereas unlike the answers provided by the politicians, it is brief, honest, and to the point.
