That’s the Battle of Britain Memorial on the South Coast. Never been there but I think it’s somewhere near Folkestone.

Does the Club have any kind of book documenting their art collection?
I would think that it would sell well.
At any rate keep up with your submissions here.
Glad that you are able to fill some time while away from treatments.

Thank you C16. Remember now. No we haven't been either. I don't think so PHX. The problem is it is being added to all the time. Donations, paintings bequeathed to The Club and commissions. For example Wodders asked for a Lysander. I can almost picture the one I have seen.here and know where it was but I can't find it now.

OK not a painting but a photograph from The Spitfire room. With reduced definition it may be difficult to make out detail. Not sure of the year but loads of medals there

Good spot I didn't notice that in there. Anyway I wasn't thinking of that painting. There is one with one in a field in presumably France picking up.SOE operatives.

Have they got a Wellesley? Slightly odd looking, but tremendous range and an effective bomber in the Middle East in the early years of WW2.

Had to look it up. Must be good. built in the same place as the VC10. I don't think.so but there are a few aircraft we don't recognise. Will keep an eye out.

I can't read the plaque even if I could it may not say. What, where and when anyone know?
An RAF Sentinel aircraft flies over a tactical ground station in Afghanistan. The Astor (Airborne STand-Off Radar) system has played a key role in battlefield intelligence gathering for allied forces. Commissioned by Raytheon Systems Ltd to commemorate the 1000th sortie and 10,000th flying hour of the system, this painting was presented to 5 (AC) Squadron RAF in December 2012 and now hangs in the RAF Club, Piccadilly. Oil on canvas.

That looks like 'just before' the (late) Eric Steenson's inimitable 1971 belly slide at Wattisham......................

Actually, not 'inimitable' as the junior squadrons at Wattisham had managed it a few times.

PS Eric Steenson of Jan Leeming fame...

We need a pharologist to identify the lighthouse. Call in HRH The Princess Royal. The poor old Admiral having to follow her up all those steps. Maybe he just waits at the bottom with a scotch.
