I couldn't claim for my RR Avon induced deafness, because being overseas I didn't know I could until it was 'too late'.

Like many retired civil servants I'm fighting to keep mine from the representatives of Member States which rule our remuneration. It escapes these representatives that my benefits are not a "hand out" - money was withheld from my salary each month to be handed back when I retired as benefits. What I tell young people today is "expect nothing" when you retire.

I retired in July from the Canadian government and have still not received a full pension payment.

You come into the World with nothing, if you go out in debt you've made a profit.
