Thanks again, yes I have it. The lady is very appreciative. 71 years and she didn't know for sure that he had a MC. It was a rumour from an Aunt after he had died.

Were MC's engraved with the recipients name in WWI?

They did hand out rather a lot.

If it is engraved, there maybe some trace through dealers?

If you want, I can get in touch with TTN at TOP. He is a former Nav on 214 and I have his e-mail. At one point he was a dealer and will know how to go about such a search.

Most kind Ian worth a bash. I suspect that it is just stuck in a drawer somewhere. I have all of my father's and grandfather's medals. A few VCs, a couple of MCs and DSOs. Actually my grandfather was in the trenches in frog land in WWI my father was in India in WWII. Only campaign medals but nice to have. They are in Greece. F...ing NRs would nick them here and sell them for peanuts.
