RAF Colerne Open Day 1965

#1 Post by FD2 » Sat Oct 30, 2021 10:35 pm

I could zip up to Colerne on my Vespa from our house to goof at the aircraft but once a year they had the open day. I came across this programme while trying to find something else and thought I'd share it. The air day was just a few days before I jumped on the train to take me down to Kingswear.

Number umpteen in a continuing series of putting my foot in it occurred a few years later when I was sitting having a drink with the captain of the minesweeper I was serving in in Hong Kong when I mentioned having seen a white painted Mk 1 Buccaneer at Colerne and what a dismal display it had given. "Yes *****, that was me flying it" he replied, "I wasn't feeling very well and when I got back to Lossie they found I had double pneumonia". He was an AWI as I found out later.
