Yes, but what happened to all the posts/topics that were previously here Dirk?

Haven't upgraded the forum software for a year, so probably overdue.

I noticed a couple of days ago posts had disappeared but the thread headers remained but forgot to mention it.

Admin, is the backend database to this fine forum a SQL Server, Oracle or some other flavour of proprietary DB?

'Tis very odd, since our 'friend', TL, still has a correct post count. They are lurking somewhere, Alison!

Paranoia et les tables mes amis are our biggest enemy! Mind you just because we think they are out to get us doesn't mean to say that they aren't!

The Admin is an old VAX hand and thus is clued up on the where's and why fore's of databases as well. Ten to one we have encountered some sort of table or index corruption or Alison ran:

DECLARE @sql NVARCHAR(max)=''

SELECT @sql += ' Drop table ' + QUOTENAME(TABLE_SCHEMA) + '.'+ QUOTENAME(TABLE_NAME) + '; '
FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES
WHERE TABLE_TYPE = 'BASE TABLE'

Exec Sp_executesql @sql

After one too many whiskies on Christmas night and has had to restore the lot with a bad hangover.

Admin I am only joking and appreciate that this issue is worrying and not worthy of my shallow wit. ^:)^

That may be, but the site does not. The problem has been here for more than a week without anybody noticing it. Not even the Admin, who wrote on the 24th that we were close to 80,000 posts. We actually passed 80,000 on the 9th.

True Liberal, most of the denizens of this site simply assumed that the Admin had grown tired of the tedious nature of the debate (if one can call it that) that persisted there and canned it. As for totting up record counts and post statistics, we tend to leave that you and note your less than optimistic take on the results with serious levity. It is not like whole threads, posts or even batches of users have not mysteriously gone missing at TOP for example is it? Of course you know nothing of that!

Still, I do hope the Admin reinstates the missing posts, if for no other reason than to help me complete my PhD thesis on the aberrant psychology of one or two of the posters therein.

I'm surprise that you are able to read the minds of others, More Aviation, as you often appear to have trouble with just your own.

Here's some more statistics; in the last 11 months only 9 new users have been added.

By TOP, I assume you mean pprune? Ever noticed that it is not me who keeps bringing that subject up?

I am delighted that you take such a great interest in the state of my mind TL. As for the rest, self awareness, is a great thing n'est ce pas?

You feigned lack of understanding of the TOP acronym is, like the rest of your role as an agent provocateur, simply lame.

Keep counting and we'll keep lauging. :)

It is a strange thing that the presentation of this site's statistics is seen as a provocation. It is after all going gangbusters, is it not?

Simply lame is it? I'll raise you and say that the use of the TOP acronym is both lame and childish.

P.S. One or two of the 9 new usernames are repeat customers.

TL

NO one really GAF what you think or say.

As for TOP, it is a hell of a lot easier to type than the name
and since very relevant Professional Pilots posts get deleted in
Threads the main forum is not really as good as it an be.

Even Military threads end up there now and not in the Mil forum.?????

And FYI, it was the admin at TOP that wouldn't allow other forum names
To be posted on threads. So who's lame now ? I think I read somewhere that
TOP originally referred to here / this forum because we couldn't post the name.

So acronyms are lame and childish! Silly comment to make in the context of things aviation wouldn't you think?

As for the stats, no provocation to me personally. Quite the contrary, I enjoy your little forays here but I can't speak for anybody else.

I think the Admin 'w' at TOP has proved to be a bigger child than anyone here using TOP. Their actions say it all.

Come on folks!!
Alison has a problem to deal with - and the last few posts have turned into the usual bitch-fest. Has anyone got a constructive point to make?

"All the posts in Introductions have disappeared." - not sure, Alison, whether you are in the 'recovery' phase or not, but I now see all the posts in "A little bit about who we are" in Introductions.

Would be interested to hear the findings when you have them - I have never seen this happen with phpBB. Do you have scheduled SQL backups set?

Is it purely a co-incidence that we were at the anniversary of the web hosting?
