Brian W May - ex Dengue-Dude . . . SANCTUARY !!

#1 Post by Brian W May » Tue May 01, 2018 1:34 pm

Intending to escape the tedium that PPRune has become . . .

A thank you to the member that PM'd this lifeline (hopefully).

Only ever an RAF 'safety' pilot (Pilot Assistant on Dominies) but thirty five years or so as a flight engineer both military and commercial.

Both large tri-jets and lots of nice deaf Hercules hours under the belt. After flying retired me, I ended up writing about it for BAE Systems ('cos they were local).

Now blissfully retired and proud that my suitcase is in the loft.

Hi all.

Brian - welcome to this happy throng :YMAPPLAUSE: . It's a gentler forum than what we call TOP - The Other Place. Hope you stay long and enjoy!

'Brian' - a warm welcome indeed - good to see you. Would you be able to PM a few more of the grumpies on TOP? Whatever you do do NOT post the info, or Wanking Wob will descend like a builder's hod of bricks on your wise head. :))

Okay 'Mum' is the word. I understand we have a certain spotty dog in common? Will do and will only PM as I completely understand.

Good to have another engineer on board, we can have meaningful and intellectual discussions about beer and motorbikes. I occasionally have a turn through the heavily policed TOP, have to keep an eye over your shoulder all the time, none of that on here.

- Spotty - yes. A good guy with good input. He joined here a while back but I don't think the slanging in progress suited him (or me!) - I hope he returns, as it has settled down nicely.

Bearing in mind your name, I used to describe my job as an FE to non-flying folk as: 'Red light ON . . . Red light OFF . . . where's my banana?'

Not a million miles off eh o:-)

I've been somewhat amiss in not welcoming you Brian. Apologies are in order. We've built up a good friendly crowd here, the kind of place it's a real pleasure to visit. I hope you enjoy our company, and choose to participate in all the activities. :)

Limeygal organises the deck quoits, Mrs Ex-A the table tennis, and Tall Bird does guided tours of the upper decks. Lots of engineers down in the bowels of the ship, but we don't talk about them. ;)))

Indeed, and why would you? (Thanks for the warm welcome, I wonder if TOP will give me a send-off?) Probably just sit in the lurk . . .

Thanks LG. With your background I would have thought you would have known better. It's not called the poop deck, I understand the proper term is "The Heads" where you go to poop.
