Jetex Jim

#1 Post by Jetex Jim » Sat Jul 21, 2018 6:03 pm

Well, I've been banned from another website recently.

I did rather ask for it. I complained a bit about arbitrary deletions and banning. I also observed that the moderation seemed designed to reduce confrontation which, given the reduction in people posting, seemed counterproductive in terms of encouraging traffic to the site. The mods allowed a few rebuttals to my post, locked the thread and then banned me from all sections.

I'm an engineer living in Germany, just north of Munich. I've been involved with flight simulators for most of my working life starting off in the RAF as a sim tech and then becoming a software engineer. I worked for Boeing in the USA for eight years then returned to the UK and became self employed.

I have a PPL (FAA) and one of my earliest childhood memories is seeing a couple USAF Voodoos fly over and my second oldest memory is trying to build a flying model plane. Back in those days Jetex was all the rage.

Welcome from another renegade. I've also been banned from a few threads over at TOP, for no reason that I can see. I now only visit there to post on one thread that is rather close to home, in JB. This place seems far more civilised, and has a large number of former acquaintances from TOP, who, it seems, like me, have sought refuge.

Would Oberpfaffenhoffen ring a bell ? Used to visit there occasionally to see my chums in DFVLR as it used to be called. If so Mr. Chris Peate ("Heavens Above") might be familiar to you.

Welcome Jim. It is quite pathetic over there. Bunch of armchair pilots talking absolute rubbish. I have been banned five times. Just couldn't be bothered now. My wife was banned because I was banned. Work that one out.

TL will be looking in Sisemen.

Welcome!

I too had a Jetex 50! I powered a boat with it.

Did you know that a Jetex worked under water?

Welcome Jim - Jetex brings back memories of my youth! I was never banned on TOP but just got fed up with the moderating ...plus my 'ignore' list made nonsense of some threads.

Here's some cracking Jetex flying from Richard Crossley at Old Warden.

The model by the way is an FW Flitzer which Germany had under development when WW2 ended. I think DH got a look at the plans.
