It is a sad fact of life that even well run webservers need some time out for good behaviour. Accordingly Scheduled Outages for 30 mins each are planned for Mondays and Fridays at 03:00 GMT. They won't always happen, but one needs to be prepared.
Currently the site is running on a server in my study. I think it's coping but please let me know if anyone sees any degradation in response times. Especially when I am abed and you lot are partying. Will move it to a commercial server if the load gets too great.

Re: Scheduled Outages.
There will be a scheduled outage of 45 mins starting at 03:00 GMT Tuesday the 1st Sept to enable the installation of some security patches. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Re: Scheduled Outages - Please note.
As one who never reads "scheduled outages" I was completely unprepared for what happened a few minutes ago. ppruned.org was gone! I immediately thought that Voldemort was responsible. Now I see it was all planned maintenance. That's a relief. Will read "scheduled outages" more often in the future.

Just installed an extension to enable me to make announcements for half an hour before hand.

Hover over thread titles is nice, too.
