A suggestion maybe: The juice that once fuelled the aviation industry, and the people who made it all happen.
Just matching up 'once' to 'made' instead of 'make' and also including the word 'aviation' so that we are not mistaken for those who produced the 'juice'.

Please, please, please do not get hung up on the logo and slogan. The logo was a quick screen grab and may be copyright, and the slogan was an off-the-cuff thought bubble. I even spelt it wrong. Contributions of preferable logos and slogans are more than welcome.
My real "design" concern relates to the categories, titles and their descriptions. There must be room for improvement on my initial take. Shirley.

Re: Changes to Attract New Members
I'm more than comfortable with the current title, Alison, mainly because it 'cocks a snoot' (if that saying is correctly applied here) at TOP.
Others here may disagree. Either way I will go with the flow.
As for the categories; I'll have a bit of a think about it over the weekend. After the shoot at the Rifle Club tomorrow. (300 yards and a few of us are dusting off the old 303s!)

Re: Changes to Attract New Members
Maybe "Ppruned Social" needs to be split? Like "Links" somewhere with the serious stuff, "Where are they now" with Nostalgia and History, and "Ppruned Projects & Bashes" with some tech stuff somehow?
I like the descriptions.
I like the descriptions.
Re: Changes to Attract New Members
P.S and maybe "A little bit about who we are" needs to be somewhere 'up' or separately, so that the ones wishing to say a couple of things about themselves would notice it, so would potential new members - to get an idea what kind of lot has gathered here?
Re: Changes to Attract New Members
Format looks pretty neat and workman like, covers our interests and hopefully will be a source of interest to passers by.
The current bit where people can introduce themselves is very handy.
Alison, thanks for all the hard work and dedication, I am sure this Mark II site will take off and we will attract people into our fold.

What you have there is a fine starting point, Alison, and doubtless other things would come to mind as we go along.
Two points:
There is no forum for 'flt sims/spotters/wannabees etc - are you set on not having?
The poor old 'JB crowd' will be up in arms - where on earth can they abuse each other (if not themselves.... )
I assume you will be adding the 'non-aviation' bits?

Absolutely. The categories as laid out on http://wwww.av-gas.net are just a starting point.

Debatable and my vote is we should. The opportunity for 'beginners' to learn from the more experienced is invaluable IMO. Not forgetting, of course, that the young sprat captured early will probably stay with us.
........and we don't want them going 'elsewhere' do we...............

Consider it done. Added a forum for "Those with an Interest - Flight Sims, Spotters, etc".

You mean the daft people who seem quite happy to depart a perfectly serviceable aeroplane mid-air. Heaven forbid.

Aviation World, Global Flight, Flight Pros - I'm sure there are website names that capture the Prune market.
But my best idea is sell pilot shirts and luggage of high quality, cheap. Do it through ads or directly and the target market will find you, and make you some money.

I think you'll find that at least 3 of the "daft people" have "ginormous watches" as well
But look at the bright side for pilots, those "daft people" give and opportunity for pilots to fly
and are great hour builders (That's my positive spin on it anyway !).

Re: Changes to Attract New Members
A couple of points. TOP has a popular forum for Private Flying. This seems to be well attended, and when I've dipped into it has some interesting discussions. Maybe similar here would attract extra members. JB (on here but not on Av-GAS as yet) is described as "You know...." . I don't think this would be as meaningful to potential new recruits as it is to outcasts.
