A former Luftwaffe night fighter base, later in more peaceful times I worked there and listened to RR Darts, Speys and Tays.

Trying to think of an RAF base in NL but near the border with DE. It should be easy.

Not an RAF base.
Luftwaffe, RNAF and also housed an aircraft manufacturers Service centre. Was going to house nuclear missiles but a treaty stopped that before deployment.

Woensdrecht!

Last night Mr Fox and I trawled for an hour along Belgian and German borders looking for bases in NL. I remember reading about Woensdrecht and now not sure why we rejected it then. Very interesting articles online and dits from Mr Fox. ;)))

It is Woensdrecht!
Beginning to think everyone had gone home. Just over the border from Antwerp near Bergen Op Zoom, I spent three months here once at the Fokker Service Centre with a severely damaged F27, very nice area.
TB is on the crease, well found.

Thanks om. It was a joint effort with Mr Fox: I did the reading, he did the looking. http://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20Netherlands.pdf

Wrong continent Woody. There is a more famous 'big house' nearby ...

It is Nunnington Hall (NT) in Ryedale - a beautiful spot by the river on a summer's day. Wonderful interiors and also home to the Carlisle collection of miniature rooms:

On the day we visited there was a lot of aviation action over the Howardian Hills - BBMF and others out to play.

Well spotted om. Your go ...

Is this perchance the burial site of the immortal bard. Holy Trinity at Stratford-on-Avon?

Looked at the four bordering counties plus SW counties down as far as Cornwall. Must have missed it.

Sorry chaps, we are in an area that is next to South Wales, west of the River Seven. Haven't seen Izod Tester for a while.
