TGG, I did indeed return 7 rolls. What was left was considerably longer than 8 metres. At the time I did a rough calculation that the 8 rolls could cover our entire garden. The garden was just over half an acre.
Over the years I used it to line three bathroom walls both sides. The floor of a new utility room, the walls of same both sides, the boiler room, a large garden pond before I put the liner in, and sundry other jobs.
As I say, I still have about 8x8 metres left after 35 years.

It affected the dining room table. Fermenting wine allover it after I had shook up the Filju brew.
Not bad with the scores on the doors here so far. 14 alive one dead.

I have always loved the art of cooking and, over the years, have turned into a pretty fair cook. 10 years living in Italy and learning how they cook certainly helped.
However, I never really got into baking. Too much reliance on scales and a pinch of this or a gram of that I suppose. The fact that I don't have a sweet tooth probably plays a part. Don't get me wrong, every now and again, I'll churn out a birthday cake but, frankly, its a chore.
But I do like making bread. I don't use a machine and find the kneading almost therapeutic. And then there is the little miracle of yeast.
So, with the free time now, I have gone back to making my own bread.
Today was pandesal a Filipino bun made with flour, egg, salt, sugar and milk. Senora Larss said it was like the real thing. Not sure if that's a compliment or not.
Have also made some good lavas and pide and some good pita.
Before I laid my hands on some yeast I focused on Irish soda bread (great with porridge oats) which reminded me of when I was a kid.

No problem up here, both our shops have stocks of flour - plain, self-raising, granary, etc. - as well as yeast.

Drinking Sambuca. Hate the stuff but just emptied the safari camp cellar.
Five more cases here, virus not wine, (20 total, including one dead). Again two citizens who came from visiting the UK and they infected three others. Majority of cases people who have been visiting the UK. All in quarantine but how many more out there.
I am still trying to turn water into wine.

I'm almost embarrassed to be posting here.
We've now gone 16 days without a reported case of infection. There has been no community transmission. Of the 26 cases detected here among people who had contracted it interstate or overseas, 11 have recovered and none of the others are requiring serious treatment. I think 4 had to go on oxygen at some stage but none onto ventilators or into ICU.
The tourism, retail and hospitality sectors remain shut down and social distancing is being practised. However, the mood is rapidly shifting to "why are we bothering"?
Even toilet paper is back on the shelves.

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
Replenished some supplies for the first time since March 20th: my DD#2 had offered to make purchases for me so I gave her a list of fruit and veges; we rendezvoused in the supermarket car-park and the goods were placed in my car-boot without me entering the building.
We had a chat for a few minutes at ~2 metres' distance but seemed to be attracting glances from passers-by for some reason.
Back at home I wiped the packaging down with a cloth spritzed with a Domestos/water mix, dried it with a paper towel, meths'd fridge and freezer handles, door-knobs, keys, phone, taps and anything else I could think of and washed hands about four times over twenty minutes.
I've had the car out once a week to give it a run.
My sherry is finished: I have some Scotch etc but don't usually drink spirits.
Realised today that autumn has truly set in, tinted leaves down everywhere.

After weeks indoors isolating my cousin's daughter went outside to start the family car. A horrendous noise told her some miserable scrote has stolen the catalysor.

no need to be embarrassed - be proud and pleased. Whatever it is is about your situation or your actions have worked so far. Let's hope all can learn from that.Cooda wrote:I'm almost embarrassed to be posting here.

Re: Covid - 19: How is it affecting you?
There is pressure to ease off on the 'lockdown', primarily because of the effect that it is having on the economy, but also the opinions of those who believe that 'herd immunity' is the only way through the pestilence. Being over 70 makes me think that could be tried elsewhere by others. This relaxation seems to be against the opinions of a lot but not all of the medical experts.
Here is an extract from Daniel Defoe's Journal of The Plague in 1665 which shows that the urge to ease off is not a new thing.
The physicians oppos’d this thoughtless humour of the people with all their might, and gave out printed directions, spreading them all over the city and suburbs, advising the people to continue reserv’d, and to use the utmost caution in their ordinary conduct, notwithstanding the decrease of the distemper, terrifying them with the danger of bringing a relapse upon the whole city, and telling them how such a relapse might be more fatal and dangerous than the whole visitation that had been already… But it was all to no purpose, the audacious creatures were so posses’d with the first joy, and so surpriz’d with the satisfaction of seeing a vast decrease in the weekly bills, that they were impenetrable by any new terrors, and would not be persuaded but that the bitterness of death was pass’d… This imprudent rash conduct cost a great many their lives, who had with great care and caution shut themselves up, and kept retir’d as it were from all mankind, and had by that means, under God’s providence, been preserved thro’ all the heat of that infection.
