Had my six monthly CLL check yesterday, seems like I am in slightly better nick than last time. Apparently because I am classed as vulnerable I will shortly be getting an invitation to have a third jab. I said I had been boostered but this is in addition to the booster.

Life in Spain: Two weeks ago a young man on an electric scooter on his way home from work was knocked down and killed in Empuriabrava by a youth who'd borrowed his father's sports car. Under age, hence uninsured. After a week the mother of the dead boy saw the killer in the car again, mocking her. She went to the Law Court in Figueras who told her the case had been archived by the case judge in Figueras as 'light damage to a car, no serious injuries' on the basis of the local police report. Turns out the father of the killer owns a bar where the local police drink and asked them to "settle" the matter. Mother has now engaged a lawyer who is stirring matters up. Been in local and national newspapers. Top lawyer specialising in police corruption has now taken the case on pro bono.

Not unusual. If you know the right people, you can get away with murder.... Which is what happened here.

Morning folks. We were going cruising, great day for it but flat battery. Have no idea why. To stop the bastards stealing the fuel and battery we now lock them in the cabin. Someone has tried to jemmy it open. Our family have stolen more fuel. No idea how they did it. The father is our local pastor. I gave him the bible last night open at Exodus 20.15 'Thou should not steal'. Then left it with him to read overnight. Told him not to steal the bible. He didn't. They are born to steal.
'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.' Sir Winston Churchill.

Maybe he will say the right quote is 'Thou should not steal what is available now' hence fuel is a modern day invention so it is ok to steal it or 'Thou should not steal unless it is an emergency. '

Did the locals steal the electricity out of the battery?

Quiet innit,
18c for 24c, cloudless.
guess is for cooling down, 22c by Friday. It'll be trousers soon, already is for the last follow.
Won't get to see GP live SM's peak viewing time.
So a normal Sunday Floors, ritual bacon butty, then whatever I am ordered to do.
Since Brexit the English store has had to switch to Irish Bacon.
Not to my taste really and a lot of water in it.
There is an English Butcher in Nerja I'll have to find him.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Started off fine this morning but now cloudy and raining.
Blood results came through the ether at 06:50 this morning. Billy is recovering nicely
from his viral infection.
Just had a happy 10 mins whacking a couple of chicken breasts with my klopfer.
Both now floured, egged and breadcrumbed to my satisfaction. Shall be having them with
a lemon and herb flavoured rice and some of those coloured things that contain vitamins.
But first the pub calls for a gargle with the idiots.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
So we've been having an atmospheric river flow over us this weekend. It started on Friday, when we were out before sun-up heading 200 miles north for a dog show (no other reason to be out that early). A bit of wind, fun in the high-roof van, and a fair bit of rain. I had the wipers on intermittent as the rain eased and suddenly there was a non-standard noise and the drivers-side wiper had vanished. We were already running late, so I figured I'd keep going unless the rain came back in force and degraded visibility. I think the van windscreen might have had one of those fancy coatings though, because even when it did rain, it was still remarkably clear. We made it the other 150 miles and I turned up ringside with Kepler with 12 minutes to spare (I normally aim for an hour so I can do final grooming and get her used to the environment). Got the expected result, lost to the dog with the professional handler (who I've only beaten once) but got the owner-handled ribbon. Off to the car parts store a few miles up the road, managed to get a replacement wiper which I fitted before driving back to the show site. Got a group 3 placement in the owner-handled competition, which is the best we've ever done, so pleased at that.
The rest of the weekend was at the regional Leonberger specialty 50 miles south of there. That involved a lot of rain, although Kepler picked up a rosette and trophy, first time I've managed that. Tesla came along and was highly unimpressed to have to go in the show ring in the rain in the veterans class (dogs over 7 years old) and be expected to do more than walk. We ended up indoors for the Sunday show, and although the lights went out a few times, they came back on quickly. Then it was time to drive home. I think we were driving straight into the wind because there were no sudden sideways shifts. I did discover that the van has a warning light that comes on if you start aquaplaning. Survived all the bits I was expecting to be dire with crosswinds, called in to refuel ($ouch, fuel economy of a van into a stiff headwind is dire) and now ready for next weekend's shows.

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
Do you treat yourself to a hotel bed - or do you sleep in the van cuddling the Leonbergers?
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
So far it's been a hotel bed, although I do have a camp bed I can use in the van. I have to put the insulation on the inside of the van though, that will help keep it cool in summer and warmer in winter. I always used to restrict my shows to the ones where I could reasonably drive there and back on the same day, which was also easier when the dogs were younger and not winning, because it was drive for up to 90 minutes (with a few 2 hour drives), spend a bit of time chatting with the other Leo people and (badly) grooming the dog, before spending ten minutes in the ring and going home. Now there's a lot more grooming as I've learned how to do a better job, and Kepler has been winning stuff, if not best of breed, then at least the owner-handled best of breed, so we stick around for the group stages in the afternoon. I've also recently been going to shows a bit further away and staying the night. Ironically I'd just started trying that in January last year, and then in March it all got locked down.
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
When aged 21, I occasionally slept in my uninsulated small van, sometimes with ice on the inside.

Morning folks. I once insulated a VW windowless van. Foam sheets glued between stringers, foam used to stink in hot weather. Plywood panels over that. You can buy a complete kit of panels to go over the insulation but I didn't know that at the time and spent ages cutting and fitting. Drove it all over Europe. Rarely used camping sites.

Good morning and welcome to a new week.
My days of sleeping in cars and vans is definitely at an end.
The horizon is just beginning to lighten here. 10°C at present and forecast sunny intervals
with a high of 14°C.
Bacon and mushrooms had for breakfast and a mug of tea about to wash it all down.
Nothing planned for today.
On this day in 1415 Henry V's army defeated a numerically superior French force at Agincourt.

Greetings gentlefolk,
I see 17c guess 23c,
Lots of thin high cloud taking the edge off it.
SM off to see the Physio shortly.
There is nothing else planned, might start to dismantle the barbecue.
While the outside is Stainless and in perfect condition the interior is not.
In November we are having the diseased pine hedge by the pond removed and replaced with a wall.
Barbi will be in the way. I'll donate it to the Ragheads that live in the skip at the bottom of the track.
The only English remaining up here departed for the UK yesterday, we are alone now with Belgians, Frogs, and Dutch.
One feels quite lonely.
I have tried *Ibbie* unfortunately my (our) preference is for Smoked.

Morning folks,
A bit cloudy and windy but hot.
The detail on this is amazing: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... years.html
Flew with a Captain on Monarch who had a caravan near Gatwick for the dreaded triple night flights. One winter on the flt deck he pulled out a glass from his nav bag with his false teeth frozen into a glass of water. I think that we got them out before take off.
