Just had a 40 minute power cut - sitting in the dark was just like the days of the old 'Air Raid Warning -Red' and reading by torchlight but without the bangs and some 2@t shouting "Gas,gas, gas".

I knew it, I knew it. Half the forms I filled out not necessary to enter France, even though their website says you do. No need to quarantine in Spain, a French requirement....Forget to fill out the 'essential' international transit form for France but nobody wanted it. However, all checked in.

Here we go again.Wet and windy but warmish.
Had a bit of a scare with Mrs HF last night just before bedtime. She was complaining about being hot
and quite right, temp 38.9°C. The obvious came to mind but an LFT proved negative. I'll wait to see how things are this morning.
Any more symptoms and it'll be a PRC for the lass.

Morning folks.
16c and sunny, blue sky with a few clouds. Might get up into low 20s later.
Hope Mrs HF is a false alarm.
You knew that would happen OFSO.

Good Morning all,
Just passed 20c upwards, clear blue sky. Calm.
Doctor in a moment, results of blood test which I know are poor.
I was supposed to have a scan of my abdomen but the appointment has only just come for early February.
Guess you knew that would be the case *OFSO* but one bit of paper missing .......
Hope Mrs HF is OK after a night in the pit. I know LFTs are free in the UK at present but does that go for the PRC or do you have to pay.

Best wishes to Mrs HF. Wodders, PCR tests in the UK are free if you think you have Covid but you have to pay when they are required for foreign travel purposes.
An indication that the NHS is under pressure. A friend's husband broke his hip a month ago and was released home from hospital on the 23rd. On Monday night at about 2300 he repositioned himself in bed and suddenly was in terrible pain from his hip. His wife dialled 999. It seems they are now triaging 999 calls as an hour later a doctor phoned back to talk to him. An ambulance arrived a further three hours later at 0300 and they spent almost an hour with him before admitting him to hospital where he had an emergency operation later yesterday. I've never heard of 999 calls being triaged by a doctor like that.

.... and so it goes. As the Eurostar approached the Gare de Nord Paris, passengers were told to have passports and lots of different forms ready and to be prepared for a customs inspection on entering the EU. Reality: not an official in sight. Only our grinning driver jumping up and down and waving to us......

If Weight Watchers' programs are any good - how come Oprah's still fat?

That's really how bad it is.
In the lowlands, it's sometimes even worse than that.
Triage by a doctor in response to a treble nine shows just how bad the situation is.
Think about that situation!

Well Mrs HF was fine in the morning and the PCR was negative.
Raining once again here but warm at 13°C, looking towards 16°C.
No wonder everyone is catching things.

Morning all.
It's a clear sky but only 8c here. High of 20c late afternoon is guessed at.
Glad to here that Mrs HF is ok.

Home to a cold house. Central heating failed. Put a/c on and lit wood stove....
Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
OFSO, you got home just in time, French officials have been refusing passage to British citizens on Eurostar and the ferries since early this morning, including Brits resident in Belgium.

Good Morning All,
Cloudless, 18c in a flat calm.
Pleased that Mrs HF is OK today.
Just loaded the sat nav for taking SM to Ma Lager to see what is supposed to be a top surgeon.
It has accepted the address and is showing close by parking which is good.
I hate this AGP is too busy for my old brain.

Morning folks.
Positively tropical hereabouts, even Mrs 4ma ( a southern girl from darkest Surrey) has noticed and temporarily dispensed with her quilted outdoor coat. Me? Ah'm swettin, as they say in God's Own Country.
After giving me that fine model as a Xmas prezzy, Mrs 4ma has gone further and "authorised" the purchase of an airbrush so's I get the painting right. Hmmmm. She's after something (probably expensive)... I know the signs after 40+ years together.

Good point PN. Certainly not to cover up any mishaps with the car - I've checked that; no new scratches.

Morning all-another warm and stormy day forecast.
4ma-if one may enquire, where in Surrey is Mrs 4MA from? I also hail from Surrey-Epsom to be exact.
I am in a tidying mood today. I shall tackle the larder and the laundry room. Had a weird meal last night as I had found some soon to expire/expired packets in the larder-rice mixes and other such items and some suspect frozen veg in the freezer. I threw them all together and dished it up with some chicken. Hubs said it was delicious. I didn't mention the dodgy dates. Some things are best left unknown-like what's in spam and sausages

Re: The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread V
All changed today but this was yesterday:
For anyone interested in traveling to France, this was a list of demands for printed paperwork versus reality yesterday on the Eurostar.
- Covid vacination and tests, examined.
- Passenger locator form, not asked for. (Includes promise to quarantine for ten days in your destination country even if not France, but since France rules the world....)
- Declaration of honour that you don't know anyone who is ill, not asked for.
- Sworn undertaking to comply with stupid Frog rules, not asked for.
- Entry into France from Scarlet Red (really!) category country, ie the UK, not asked for.
- I forgot the international travel form, but it was not asked for.
- Approaching Paris, told to prepare passports forms and prepare for customs inspection on platform: reality, no officials there.
- French/Spanish border, no control heading south, small party of Somali (?) immigrants struggling north.

Problem now is actually getting to France. Daughter from Netherlands on Sunday will be travelling back to Dunkirk the following Friday. She hopes.
