LG - as far as I am concerned you posted in exactly the right place and the thread was heading away from its "General Chit Chat" towards "A place to discuss politics and things related to Govts". Hence the request from me.

Rain overnight, but now fine with a little cloud. Currently 12c, forecast max 16c. Still haven't completely thrown off the cold I've had for a week, head blocked and throat sore.

Diver missing at sea - Coastguard S92 and AW189 helicopters plus two lifeboats are searching off South Ronaldsay, Orkney, for a missing diver. Both helos are on FR24. The alarm was raised 6 hours ago.

If anyone wishes to continue, please do so on the 'Politics & Controversial Topics' section in 'SOCIAL', in recognition of LG's feelings.
I wasn't criticizing the comments of others who were posting with regards to the dog!

Morning folks.

Cloud over but dry here.

New motor time 11.00.

Madam has just curtailed Ed's walk as several boars, some with babies blocking her route.

But perhaps unaware of the 'report this post' function here? Have I received such from you? Remember, however, one man's 'fact' is another's 'racism' or 'humour', and Alison set this site up as a relatively 'free speech' area within certain guidelines.

Do you have particular offenders in mind? We could all then openly discuss the issue.

I have have been reading Andre De Ruyter's tales of woe in his role as CEO, now resigned but not before he was poisoned, of the increasingly moribund South African power utility ESKOM and his initial experiences at their HQ at Megawatt Park, near Johannesburg, led me to think that some of their staff might have moved on to work for an esteemed member of this site...
Returning to Megawatt Park after the Christmas holidays, I came into the office very early one morning while it was still dark. I drive an electric Volvo that is extremely quiet, and as I arrived at one of the secondary gates, I saw that the security guard on duty was fast asleep.

I had him fired that same day
Ex-Ascot do you have any comments on this rumour?

Flight BCN to LHR left on time, arrived on time, empty seat next to us, and thanks to a jumbo-sized bottle of Bombay, passed pleasantly.

A laugh at the Barcelona frontier police. Policeman on duty just waved me through, no control of passport nor Residencia. I protested "my residence permit cost a lot - the least you could do is look at it! " Policeman laughed and said "I'll bet it did, but not interested - off you go! "

Stolen Honda Civic found on top of a metal barrel in Glasgow...was there a Mess night somewhere nearby? Reminiscent of a car on the Quarterdeck at Dartmouth after a Mess Dinner....

I recall helping put a Mini into the foyer at RAF Waddington.
It seemed incredibly amusing at the time.
Achieved with zero damage, despite the extremely tight clearance and everyone three sheets to the wind.
MT damaged it getting it back out next morning, and tried to bill the Squadron.
We pointed out we would have been perfectly happy to remove it if asked, and refused to pay. Win.

In the fifties our scripture master had an Austin Ruby saloon, the school was given the afternoon off for an important confidential staff meeting. The quadrangle was surrounded by four corridors and the top corridor could be accessed from outside by using ten or a dozen steps. The staff meeting was being held as far away from the top corridor as you could get, we managed to get the Austin up the steps and into the corridor and then pushed it the full length to the geography room, about 250/300 yards without being detected. Only a few inches either side but no damage.
It took the school people three or four days to get it out, the big problem coming back down the steps. It took them some time before they realised that we had put a boy in the sunroof to steer it so that we kept it straight.

Good morning, overcast and has rained. 10°C at the moment.
Had first frost on Tuesday with a brilliantly clear day afterwards.

House Fairy has flitted through, she brought me some more proteas and I gave her some feijoas which I'd been given but don't care for.

Had petrol tank filled last Saturday, fuel consumption seems to work out to 22.8mpg which seems a bit mere, but perhaps the tank hadn't been entirely filled the previous time. Mostly town driving, one 50km round trip at highway speed.

Morning folks. Knee slightly improved but still feels like a trapped ligament/nerve around knee cap. Still have made it18 hours without a support providing support.

Madam is off to art group.

Thursday before the elections here. I made clear once again the great need for the company to provide free coffee or at least a couple of coffee machines if serious incidents are to be avoided.

. Morning folks. Lots of great rain last night clearing up now. Town day terrible drive with animals all over the place. Mrs Ex-Ascot driving. I still can't drive don't know how long this will. Ah well she didn't kill us and I get to have in-flight refreshment. Guy coming to hopefully fix pool plumbing this afternoon.

Of course RiS we should have been there to give our support to the current mayor.

Off to hospital this pm for a knee xray. It's supposed to reach 19C here today - almost a heatwave for these parts. The flowering cherry trees in the garden have suddenly burst into their splendour.
