Thanks GG. Reminds me that I should start putting my system together at least a week before I go away - there does seem to be a menagerie of fittings these days.

I use the Autopot irrigation system for which I use a 100 litre barrel as the reservoir. I top it up occasionally from my rain butts. I first saw the system at the Eden Project and thought if it was good enough for them..... Worth a look if you're thinking of installing an irrigation system which has extendability limited only by the space available.

31 this afternoon, dropping to 5 tonight. Yo-yo season continues.
Last month here was our driest April on record, and we have a burn ban in force, but Nova Scotia is catching fire already.
"Basically, all hell is breaking loose", quoth the Halifax district Fire Chief.
The evacuation zone is only 10 clicks from the edge of the city, and it's about to become downwind with forest all the way ahead of the fire to the city limits.
Best of luck to them.

^Heard on the radio the other day that a team of Australian firefighters is on its way to Canada to assist. It seems that these exchanges are becoming a regular thing.

Makes sense; opposite seasons, same problems.
We routinely shuffle capability around in Canada and the USA - everything from fire to utilities to Red Cross assistance.
Several people from my little bit of Canada helped out with Hurricane Sandy in NY,NY.

Heat Pump Man returned with the replacement louvre so job now finished.
Currently sunny; breezy as I expected after yesterday's fine high mares' tails; 18.1°C; barometer -1.9hPa/hr so more breeze to come.
This is being an exceptionally mild spell of weather; just looked ahead though and forecast suggests it may be very different in a week's time, rain, cold, gales, drama etc. All very dynamic and subject to change.

A quiet but enjoyable weekend continues here in cooler but still sunny conditions. Met up with my better half's Aussie step sister and her husband on Saturday They are both very nice people. He is an economist with the Western Australian government, responsible for designing, setting up and advising legislation in electricity markets, allowing frictionless trading in open markets. He advises governments all over the world and is over here leading seminars in the UK. The South African government could learn a great deal from him.
Went to watch the jousting at Castle Headingham yesterday thereby avoiding cycle races and local lockdowns.

Morning folks.
19c and sunny in clear blue sky at the mo.
Trip to physio appears to have isolated knee problem and how to get me up and running again. Says six to eight weeks of twice weekly treatment and daily exercise regime, icing of knee and anti inflammatory pills.
He was amazed that hospital specialist only interested in the fact replacement knee joint was undamaged and free from infection and not in getting me walking pain free again. He thought I should have received Physio

I did hear a few weeks ago that it was on a major check, and that said check was taking longer than planned.Pontius Navigator wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 2:36 pmUsual quiet sunny Sunday afternoon apart from low flying aircraft, I ask you. Have the RAF nothing better to do than buzz our house with a Spitfire and Hurricane, as if the Spitfire yesterday wasnt bad enough.
Then the Lancaster came over TWICE.
Still, I got him on camera and will write a stiff thetter to the Commanding Officer.
Why no Dakota?

There was an interesting event near you on Saturday GG, called Lancashire Landings. I'd never heard of it before, but apparently more than 50 light aircraft arrived at Pilling Sands and committed aviation from there.Groundgripper wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 4:32 pmWe had a visit from the Lancaster this morning, just before he beat up Blackpool Airport. He then headed a bit off-shore before returning to go low over North Pier and then did a figure of eight over Stanley Park and Blackpool Victoria Hospital before heading back east.
My 5-minute job this morning started about 11:15 and finished at about 16:30. I was fitting an automatic watering system in my greenhouse to keep the seedlings wet while we are away this week. I managed to find appropriate bits of pipe and spray nozzles and started in the greenhouse, working my way back to the tapwhich wa where the problems started as I couldn't fit the control unit (Plastic screw fitting) onto the tap (Brass fitting). I finally managed to do it by taking the tap off the wall and fitting them together that way but then found that the tap had been screwed to its mount that in unscrewing it had loosend the water supply pipe to the tap. I thought that the yorkshire fitting at the end of the pipe had split but it turned out the pipe connector to the tap had been loosened. It now seems to be up and running without any leaks although I probably used more water than will be dispensed in a week's use.

I had a very small leak on my outside tap to the water computer. I had a problem with it last year, Cross threaded plastic on brass. Eventually found Mr A had exactly what I needed and his man dropped off a new one on Sunday morning.

Ah!
The sound of round motors.
4 yellow Stearmans in formation overhead my abode followed (as I type this) by a C-47 of the Commemorative Air Force (PC name of The Confederate Air Force) enroute to the National Memorial Cemetery a few miles north for Memorial Day service.
