Spent the holiday weekend in a field with Cassini and Faraday. Yes, it was a dog show. Slept in the van, and had the luxury of being assigned a spot next to a barn with available power sockets, so the air conditioning got a good workout. Glad I tried it on the previous weekend and fixed the problem, because it meant I could leave one or both dogs in the van and not worry about it getting too hot. Not going to be so lucky this weekend, field with no power and 33C or so temperature in the afternoons.
I thought you said that you had a genny.
If not the case, I recommend the smallest Harbor Freight one that will run the A/C and a few lights.
Or slightly bigger to run fridge, freezer, and microwave for use at home during outages.
Not as quiet as Honda, but half the price.

I do have a generator, which I used last week, the trouble with that is leaving it running when I'm not around, lest it do a runner. By all accounts there were quite a few thefts of stuff from the show site this past weekend, which are being blamed on the encampment located close to the grounds.

Morning

Trip to that infernal CdS Hospital this morning for Mrs IB to have a scan. Means setting off at 09.00 as they brought scan forward at 17.40 yesterday. Bit short notice, If it had been me I would have told em to go away. Not complying.

Appreciate the kind comments ref. Uncle Arthur. He will be missed .

Dinner in a rather down at heel looking Chelmsford was pleasant enough although I couldn't help wondering what negative comparisons our Aussie guests might have made between the litter and chav strewn streets here and those of tidy, albeit windy, Perth. The Aussie chap has to try and make it into London today for business meetings in the teeth of the rail strikes here.

Skies still grey and the weather cool here this morning.

A wandering minstrel I....

An interesting article on the history and role of the minstrel in medieval society... no red herrings and nothing to make a "lyre" of me or thee nuncle!

This did give me a laugh... the whippety lurchery hound at the back showed a total disdain throughout the bluff ruff, ruff!

Morning from the Princess Grace Hospital. I have a suite of rooms, all for me, including a lounge for my visitors. Area is as big as our flat in Teddington. Menu for lunch has just arrived, a large selection of foods and drinks, although..

We could all come and visit, and eat your grapes, and finish your jigsaw, and fill in your crossword puzzles for you ;)))

Looks a lot like Buster Gonad Ex-Ascot.... =))
During the Gulf War of 1991, a SEPECAT Jaguar GR1A (number XZ118 Y) bomber of the Royal Air Force featured Buster Gonad nose art. Vintage framed copies of Buster Gonad cartoon from the 1980s are now collectable items.

Out like a light, instantly asleep, then I assume biopsy and bladder probe, instantly awake afterwards, felt fine, no muzziness. Slight pain, slight bleeding. Coffee ready in my room, lunch on order. It costs a bomb but you get what you pay for.

Good news OFSO. Hope the results are OK. Now just reach for the wine list.

Thanks folks for good wishes. Manager of safari camp gave us some bloody awful shot each. Mrs Ex-Ascot drank both. Met a very interesting Irish doctor there. He is an anesthetist his fiancé and mother are obstetricians. He was born in Oxford, practicing in Dublin and they are getting married in Timperley in the village where my aunt had a post office. A large brown hare has been sitting by a bush in our garden for the past two days.

Walking to the mail box this morning I espied what I thought was a hedgehog under a small christmas tree.

Closer inspection revealed it to be a very small leveret.

A good excuse to avoid cutting the grass for a few days!!
