Morning folks. supposed to be blazing sunshine but it is 4/8 Cu. No bats in the veranda roof today from 50 a month ago. Will take advantage of this and get all the cobwebs down and in the main room of the house. This involves a long ladder and someone walking along the beams with a brush. This is probably racist but fact. They are like monkeys. The way they climb trees is amazing.

Edit, he is up there now with orders from Mrs Ex-Ascot not to fall and orders from me not to touch the cameras.

On tyres, always order them online if you can plan ahead.

On gunk and repairing the tyre; not a problem. Sell the car or buy a new tyre. :)
I did that once, car got to 36000 miles, needed new tyres so I bought a new car instead.
Comes a point when the tyres and a tank of petrol double the value of the car.

Best deal, I was exchanging the car at Aviemore. The driver then had to drive to Perth. My parting shot was 'the tank is empty'. Then he had to come back for his insulin kit. Hope he made it.

One of our gardeners was here for the last time yesterday. He was brought up in the Western Isles. In a few weeks he starts a one year post grad course to get his teaching qualification and then he will teach Gaelic to Secondary School pupils in north east Scotland. Bound to be a stunning success with teenagers in these parts longing to learn Gaelic.... ;))) . Tha mi a’ guidhe deagh fhortan dha.

Came out of the gym this morning, could hear from on the other side of the green, a woman shouting. Walked over there to where I'd parked my car. Five municipals, one a well-built lady police officer, the other all men, were verbally subduing a man. Chap looked like a normal local, but drugs, alcohol, psycho ? Finally was led away by one cop with hand on his arm. Followed by other cops, laughing at joke WPC had made. Lucky the Guardia Civil no longer have authority they'd have beaten him severely and released him.
The Courts had little work to do when the Guardia were in power. Summary Justice, administered on the spot.

In the USA, would probably just have shot him.

Bit of a glum end to the day. Just heard that an old friend and one time work mate from my Cardiff days has died. Only 61 years old. The grim reaper raises his dread hand again! Trying to find details of his funeral. I shouldn't be surprised really, he lived hard, drank hard and didn't take anything easy!

Similar glum news here - my brother-in-law died last night at the age of 64 after suffering from Parkinsons for about 12 years.

Good morning: -0.9°C, forecast 9°C and fine. Skies clear at present; the lights of a southbound aircraft twinkling on the horizon.

Rubbish-collection day, I'm certain of this now, the Bin is Out.
Yesterday's problem came about because I'd inadvertently put the reminder on the wrong day on my phone and, beak to the chalk-line, obediently dealt with it when I saw it. 8-|

Got 14/15 correct answers in today's quiz on Stuff -
I would link to the quiz daily but it's often very NZ oriented rather than more general knowledge.

It seems that bad news like this just accelerates as one pushes further forward in space and time. Sorry to hear it Hydromet!

Today's first task: dispose of a headless eviscerated rat from under the yard bench. Fresh, as ants had not found it.

Morning folks. Sorry to those with bad news.

Mammoth watering and the idiot has managed to flood the kitchen. We did raise an apology instead of a grunt. You may think that this is progress but we will be back to grunting again tomorrow.

The river in town is just puddles. Our lagoon is low. The ship is almost grounded. All talk is about the flood from Angola. It is not doing as well as hoped. We would normally expect it end of August but not sure this year. The bush pilots take photos for a web page which charts the progress. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2798380273614214 if anyone is interested.
