Something found...
No idea who this was from, no 'Tom' in my family. Has it any historic value?
I've also got here in Spain his reprint copy of "Jane's Fighting Ships 1914". It would cost me a fair bit to post, however if anyone would like it......

Re: Something found...
FYI, Abe are selling a copy at £30. The 1919 edition is less expensive.
Re: Something found...
OFSO-I have a collection of these. They were sent by my grandfather from France in WWI. My grandmother told me that French women made them to sell to the troops. One of the cards was of his regiment. Presumably they made some of them "to order." One has a small silk handkerchiefs tucked in it. No idea of value-depends on the current interest I would think.

Re: Something found...
I'm amazed to find someone else has these cards. My wife told me about French women making and selling them to our boys.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re WW One embroidered card - Limeygal, would you like to have the one I've found for your collection ? If so e-mail your address and I'll pop it in the post - OFSO
Re: Something found...
That's very generous of you, but I actually have mine framed, so it would be hanging out on its own. You may want to stick it on e-bay. You might get a bit of dosh for it (for reasons unknown the picture posted upside down)

^ A beautiful display, limeygal.
Thread drift:
I was reminded of the Mount Felix Tapestry which was created as a memorial to the Mount Felix Hospital in Walton-on-Thames:
The Mount Felix Tapestry: Kiwi soldiers in Walton-on-Thames
The tapestry:
https://riverhousebarn.co.uk/get-involv ... -tapestry/
- images of some of the panels were used to illustrate greeting-cards sold at the
Christchurch Hospital Nurses' Memorial Chapel
and I used the ones from Panel 30 as Christmas cards one year.
There is also a Wikipedia article titled Nurses' Memorial Chapel but that would be too many links for this post.

Karearea: My father was with a NZ squadron during the war. He was a ground mechanic, and as such had a fairly decent war. He was with 75 Squadron.
If you ever get over to the UK, try to see the D-Day tapestry. I've seen it and it is amazing
