Aurora seen locally, not by me though! Chance of seeing it again (and the ISS) tonight-unfortunately it will be cloudy. Stormy here yesterday with much needed rain. Will harvest my garlic and the tomatoes that are ready. It's all go here!

Hydro-if they offer you physical therapy-take it. I did, and felt better for it. In fact I got into the maintenance program and did it for 10 years (until covid shut it down.) Hubs joined me a few years in. He ended up with a total of 5 stents. I told him it wasn't a competition.

We have three lions roaming. Taken out two cows from down river and a horse up river. They usually stay the other side of the lagoon from us but of course the lagoon is dry. Will be careful locking up tonight.

Don't lock up. Tell the locals you aren't locking up.
Lions eat tonight's thieves; security problem solved!

Before we went to bed last night at 2300 we had a look for the Aurora but nothing to be seen.Thiis morning the local paper and t'internet was full of the best aurora pictures seen in living memory all starting at mid night. Mrs 1DC and I were well away by then. Amazing colours though reds, yellows and greens. Number 1 daughter who lives about 20 miles north was sat in the garden, on the wine , and had nice shots of the village church silhouetted in the pink and red rays.
Changed our duvet from 7.5 to 2.5 the other day, just as well it has been warm. Another funeral on Thursday, filled the church and a good send off for a good bloke. Have another one at the end of next week, unfortunately in the Deep South so won't be able to make it but another gentleman moving on, one of the nicest guys I had the privilege to know. Its a bugger when you get to the age where the despatched is the first section of the paper you read every day!! Worrying thought is that it is all the blokes who are fading away the women are still going out for their morning coffee and lunches :-? :-?

Many years ago a neighbour of a friend went round the bend and disappeared for weeks leaving her front door open. Nothing was ever stolen from the house.

I was carted off to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the air ambulance last month (see The Ricardian Saga in Sick Bay & Health Issues) and was away from home for 8 days. All doors unlocked (no idea where the keys are) and everything was as I left it, apart from where the lady who cleans for me had tidied up in the kitchen & bathroom.

From Wednesday May 8th:

"Mrs OFSO has bought some strange pot plants for our terrace. Big menacing things. Can't see a stinger (yet) but I think they are triffids. I shall avoid watching the next meteor shower..."

.......and possibly tonight's Aurora Borealis !

D#2 went out to a friend's house in the far north of The Valley where there is less light pollution and was able to see pinkish glow.
Most of the photos posted on local news sites were pink to red.

The weather guessers here in the UK are saying the visibility should be good to see the aurora tonight if we get any but on the Humber it looks as if we are getting bit of fog. It is HW at 2100 so it may clear up after that!!

Thanks for the physio advice, Limeygal. I think I can access a treatment plan via my local GP & physio-magician.
No aurora here, even if we had been in range. Just clouds & rain. I have seen one in Sydney in the late '50s or early '60s, and in Tumut we saw the red glow of one occasionally.
Rain today, currently 13C, forecast max 19C.

In my seagoing days I saw the aurora australis in the late fifties early sixties when I was crossing the Great Australia Bight. Happy Days..

Morning folks. Cold start to the day blue sky. Night guard has asked us if we can supply water for his goats. It is only half a barrel a day. Trouble is we may get other people asking.

TV News Banner: thieves stole railway cables overnight, paralysing the entire Catalan RENFE train system. RENFE advises using alternative methods of transport.

G’day

20°c, The soothsayer is going for 24°c yet again.
I expect that will be exceeded.
Not quite Dome lots of high cloud.

Struggling with a meal plan although chicken wrapped in Pancetta on a cheesy Leek sauce with Mash and braised asparagus is favourite for dinner.

A normal Sunday floors are in progress, bacon has defrosted.

Do we need a "The really boring and totally pointless snippets thread VI" as the no. V is at almost 20,000 posts and is on page 1,000?

I seem to remember database problems if a thread got too big, I think...

I too think we should have a Traab VI.
I think Kararea should run it, a sensible, sensitive woman. (no disrespect to the current team)
