Further to, and apropos my reply post on the Birthday thread; When I walked out the door of Takadaya Restaurant I was hit by a somewhat chilly breeze, and out of nowhere the song "Summer is over" by Frank Ifield sprang to mind. So upon my return to the Cu lodge I 'giggled' it to discover that Frank Ifield passed away only days after I first arrived here in Takikawa back in May.

Most sad! He was a great Australian singer! :-bd And he was born in England an' all.

Far,far better than either of a certain 'duo' currently making an alleged comeback over there in Pommyland! :-q

I second that, PtP. I'm still wondering what all the fuss is about, but then I'm old! :))

Good morning all, basically another blue sky day, with a bit of wispy cloud. Currently 11C, forecast max 23 C.
Yesterday I had appointments with a dermatologist and a rheumatologist. The dermo called me in 10 minutes early, the rheumatologist, spot on appointment time. Is this a record? Also, the dermo found no skin cancers. Another record.

A trip to Kirkwall today for a routine appointment with the diabetes department at Balfour hospital. Decided to treat myself to lunch at the Kirkwall Hotel before catching the ferry back to stronsay. Almost had to go back to A&E at Balfour after getting the bill:

Morning all. Borius the God of Winds was at it last night. Several changes of strength and direction, doors slamming etc. Sunny day forecast, rain later.

Morning folks. Nice day but cloudy. 3 forum members on Amorgos. Apart from elephants blocking our track with trees the rest of the trip went smoothly. All on time. Arrived here from ATH 4 mins early. 250' all the way. We had to lift up a bit sometimes to get over islands. Absolutely fantastic. Will post photo later.

Bloody hell Ricardian.

I've had a beer & a meal at that pub about 6 years ago, Ricardian. From memory it was nothing special, and seemed to be a bit in the Basil Fawlty style.

Chopper trip must have been costly but sounds as if views spectacular. We hope the house is in order.

Wasn't sure where to put this. Found on Facebook with this comment:
"RAF Vickers VC10 XR810 , named on the 11th of November , 1968."

Good morning all, cloudy, currently 16C (feels cooler), forecast max 28C. Didn't sleep well last night, had trouble getting to sleep, then woke at 0345. Dozed off for half an hour just before 0600.

Cold. Well, compared to last week. Gale in light, had to get up and fix window blinds.

Morning folks. Nice day. A round of this end of the island yesterday. Lost track of the number of pubs. Hugged and kissed about 40 people. I only got one name wrong. Probably one of our oldest friends. Bit embarrassing. RiS is very kindly driving as my legs are a bit wobbly after the journey. No wreck for us on arrival so we had a standard hire car. Wreck today. Photo as promised.

Change of ownership and a big refurbishing scheme (bedrooms only!) just as Covid struck. Nice, but not as nice as those prices would have you believe.
