And you wonder why.....
Sure a lot of the cops a crims with badges....but really what to do when the "Youth Justice Act" encourages.....
Due to his age the teenager will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act, which encourages officers to let youths off with a warning where appropriate.

We always used to get a warning from our local beat bobby when caught doing wrong. Mind you the warning was accompanied by a clip around the ear, and often for the boys a boot up the rear end. Seemed to work, we just made a point of not getting caught.

Good survival tactic is to keep your yap shut and not mouth off to Plod when collared. It appears the new fluffy culture of rights and entitlement has caused a failure to drive home that basic tenet among the young (and not so young).

Holding a handgun in public ( replica or not) and he doesn't get shot by police.I wonder if the kid will ever realise it was his lucky day ?

Yep, was thinking the same thing.
Luckily we don't have a police shoot first, ask questions later culture or he would be dead.

Agree. Kick up bum, clip behind the ear.

And a good idea if Police pull you over in the car as well, which some seem to forget and end up walking home.

Pretty much any time Plod collars you, Mr Nitro. Unless you're in a seriously public place with witnesses and cameras and are absolutely certain you're in the right and the shylock next to you is in complete agreement, it's better to just wind your neck in and nod a lot.

Yep. And the number of times doing that has saved me a few kmh off my speed and therefore put me
in the lower fine cat or just given a warning, but I am of the belief they are just doing their job and
I am the one with the lead foot !
I also know coppers who have told me they slapped a "No drive" sticker on the window at 2.00am
and made the occupants walk home because they gobbed off at the coppers
(The Police here in Victoria have the power for certain offences to give a warning and send you on your way,
especially driving. Of course they also have the power to write up EVERY infringement and un roadworthy
your car. Attitude goes a long way. )

Kudos to the Police Officers concerned whom must have been able to tell that it was obviously a fake gun.
Given the events in Canberra last year I daresay that the Police many not have shown such restraint if there had been any doubt as to whether or not the gun was real.
A former SAS member once remarked to me something along the lines of that a double tap to the head will remove any threat and instantly at that.

Canberra ? Did you mean Parramatta (Sydney) ?

That whole thing has gone very quiet, not much at all in the media since apart from the arrest of the
person who sold him the gun.
