Woke up with a stiff neck. Either sleeping in an odd position (no, not hanging upside down from the ceiling, well not last night, anyway) or the effect of the cold wind on the usual pre-midnight walk yesterday.
Carnival in Roses last night. I couldn't hear a sound. Only five floats "because of covid" and procession stopped when one car caught fire, I'm told.

Amazing how these thoughts come unbidden... Walked into the study with me cuppa about an hour and a half ago, and thought, 'Is today the day when HF and I can have that gin in Derby? I'll give him a shout.'

'Oh, wait...'

I know how you feel Jim, sometimes I see or hear something and think "I wonder if Pete knows that?", and then I remember Covid took him last year, he was my closest friend for over forty years.

Friday! Loading the van for a drive down to LA (6 hours) for a dog show this weekend.

Did this show two years ago, just venturing into the realms of longer distances and then we had lockdown shortly after we got back.

She's coming along for the ride. She goes in for surgery on Wednesday. We're actually dropping her off on Tuesday for a proper evaluation by the surgical team, after which we either just go collect her if they say there's no point in surgery, or we go pick her up on Thursday. At the moment she's fine, I think what's there is still in the early stages.

Took Mrs 1DC to the outlet mall at York so she could buy some bedding, she saved a lot of money.chucked it down with rain all the way there and all the way back and is still raining.I then got a migraine and went to bed for a couple of hours, did I get any sympathy? no I got a borrocking for eating a bar of chocolate yesterday and creating a self inflicted wound. She was right as usual.
I now have a bit of a headache which should be gone tomorrow and I am now going back to bed...

I just landed in Dallas for the annual Heli-Expo. I will be in classes for 2 days, followed by leading meetings for one day then the show and various briefings for 3 days. Of course there will be serious consumption of "adult beverages" each evening......

Had a minor domestic with Mrs 1Dc this morning about the unreliability of men, she wanted me to talk to Oz daughter about flights home so I said I would do it tomorrow. She moaned so I said I would do it today, Oz daughter has just replied and said lets do it tomorrow. hee! hee!

Looks as if it is going to be a nice weekend which means noisy booze boats. Usual Sat/Sun, breakfast and a few beers at the safari camp.

Another Friday without Handsfree. We have now had two quiet weekends on the trot. Hopefully shortage of money for the booze boat. These people can't budget. They blow all their money at the beginning of the month. Our friend the other side of town had a bad Wednesday night. The noisy pub up the road from her had a DJ going on until well after midnight.

Another beautiful day. Thinking of good people. Thinking of Handsfree
Though you remain
Convinced

You must have somewhere
To go
Your destination remains
Elusive."

Another nice day on the Humber. Another funeral this afternoon, a work colleague who was an absolute gent. He made it to 92.

Must be Friday as it's raining. Water dropped below street level again on the ford I use three times a week in my Ford. Oh isn't life confusing.

There is a short cut we take in town which is a dirt road. In the rainy season it has many big puddles you have to go through. Obviously you can't see the depth of the muddy water. Went though one yesterday and it came over the bonnet. Good job we have a snorkel.

I know it's Saturday now (Sunday already for some), but we had a good Friday. Kepler got a rare owner-handled group placement at Friday's show. Of course, it means I'm out the cost of a commemorative photo, but that's OK.
