OFSO:
I don't know if that is even an option for her age group.
At least, I've had mine.

It was the advice of the Head of the Clinic. Three things shall you need when the scourge is about:
- Vaccination against pneumonia
- Massive doses of vitamin D
- Laughter -seriously !

The Chamber of Commerce on Vancouver Island seem to have the right idea concerning tourists and Covid-19:

"TOURIST INFORMATION UPDATE:
BC Chamber of Commerce: Vancouver Island facts: new travel advisory to Americans
To all the US citizens who read this and might be thinking Vancouver Island would be a great place to get away from the Covid crisis in the US: Yes, we're doing OK here on the Island with our Covid cases dropping dramatically, we currently have NO cases! We watch in horror as the rest of North America spikes, and wonder how long before it comes back here.
So, if you plan on vacationing on Vancouver Island this summer, know that bedbugs have infested all our hotels and camping sites across the island due to the wetter than normal spring we just had.
Because of this year's climate change and the extremely warm Japanese current we now have sharks around all our Vancouver Island beaches.
We also have a severe outbreak of giant jellyfish and Portuguese Man-o-Wars eating small children right off our docks if they dangle their little feet over the edge.
Skunks on Vancouver Island have multiplied at unprecedented rates and wander in packs, unthwarted by the invasion of fire ants and murder hornets that seem to have flourished in our damp climate.
There have also been increased Sasquatch sightings, primarily due to their adeptness at stealing beer from camping coolers at Provincial and private campsites! During their brief courting season Sasquatches have also been successful at kidnapping campers for potential mating, particularly Americans. Stats apparently show that Sasquatches prefer Republican rather than Democrat kidnapped mates, something about more similar I.Q. compatibility!
Thanks for sharing this important info to aspiring American tourists!"

Please send the stupid ones to Scotland.

We need the money.

Our sheep have got 'herd immunity' from long exposure in the second half of the 20nth century due to our saviors' presence for so so long.

Or pay enough taxes?
Self-employed curtain fitter Mark Whittaker has been hit hard financially by coronavirus and doesn't think the government has treated people like him fairly. He started his own business in Stockport and became self-employed towards the end of 2018. He didn't earn a big enough proportion of his income that year on a self-employed basis to qualify for help now.

I saw a TV interview with Peter Kinsella! He was literally in tears...

Becoming increasingly concerned and irritated by people, in 14 days' quarantine after returning from overseas, absconding from Managed Isolation facilities.

Latest example

Quarantine escapees, you are spoiling it for everyone

Meanwhile I abstain from my usual July holiday with extended family in the North Island, avoiding airports and crowded transport, and have recently bought half a dozen face-masks to Be Prepared.
Around the world thoughts shall fly, In the twinkling of an eye

In that example the guy talks about finding closure (dreadful pop psychology term). Better that his arse finds closure with the pointy end of my boot!

I hope that compassionate flights really have been suspended. People cry dear - it's quite natural so get over it - there's more to this COVID-19 business than ME, ME, ME. Like a whole population, some of whom will be very susceptible to dying from this virus.

+1

I see it was the mother that talked about closure but same difference, i.e. none, just total selfishness!

A hotel in Shetland has been destroyed by fire.

The Moorfield Hotel in the village of Brae was reported to be alight at about 00:30. Crews from eight appliances remained at the scene on Monday morning.

The hotel had mainly been used to house oil and gas workers but was due to close in August.

Owners BDL said they were "shocked" by the blaze and have promised a full investigation.

Insured, of course. :(

Digressing, our favourite hotel on Guernsey, the Idle Rocks met that fate. The owner escaped charges of arson but the insurance company did not pay out. Several years later still derelict but sitting in a prime position on top of a WW2 bunker.
