Surprised that OFSO has not commented on this story, we know how he feels about French border control :ymdevil:

It would seem that the much-vaunted Maastricht Treaty arrangements are beginning to crumble in various parts of Europe...

It's been going on for a long time. Farmers, the fire departments of both France and Spain, can't get to fires, ordinary folk can't drive across but ilegal immigrants and terrorists can just walk across. The French are breaking the law, the EU does nothing, so what's new about that ?

Buongiorno, 6.2°C expecting 13°C and if we're good we might be let see the sun later. Still overcast but at a somewhat higher level. Superior type of cloud, no doubt.

I did hear a few fireworks last night but I don't think the letter-offer's heart was in it.

7/15,surprised it was as good as that! Picked Oz daughter up from her trip to Turkey and London, she arrived with a 3 day bad headache which warranted a call to NHS 111. They referred her to Louth hospital Emergency Response. After three hours she was discharged with a packet of powerful codeine tablets and the instruction " We think it is a migraine if it isn't any better in the morning you can come back.." At least nobody asked for any money or objected to the fact that she is now an Aussie, they weren't interested in her medical insurance. Glad they sent her to Louth, if they had picked Grimsby she could have had a couple of fights as part of the entertainment. You don't have to pay for the parking at Louth because the machines don't work, another advantage..

Good morning all, 9/15 after getting off to a terrible start. Cloudy with patches of blue, or blue with patches of cloud - take your pick. Currently 16C, forecast max 21C. Workshop day today.

.... it's Friday in Aberdeen in 1950 been to market with previously mentioned uncle, he's drunk and I'm 11.
Driving out the long straight Queens Road out to the country uncle says "Hold the wheel son while I light my pipe"
I do. "Never mind these bloody things in the road and stay on the tram tracks". The "bloody things" were the new fangled roundabouts, but the tram tracks went straight across them. He busied himself carving off some Mitchells XXX bogey roll baccy, rubbing it in his palms and tamping it into his pipe. It was lit with a great deal of ceremony and we went almost IMC in the car. We transitted at least three roundabouts before he took the wheel back, maybe a couple of miles of road? And we didn't hit anyone and nobody hit us but I could only just see over the coaming, it was a very big car.
My uncle Jimmy was a well known drunk and when I was staying on my hols he used to take me everywhere with him. Guess how I learned to drive a little grey Fergie tractor?
It's a miracle I survived.

Clocks went back an hour here last night. Be impressed, I've already updated the clock in the van to the correct time. No swearing or manual reading was involved.

While we maintain MST year around I still have to mentally recalibrate twice a year as almost all TV times are listed in ET.

Cold clear and windy here. Rain prophecy later on. TV announcement that electricity is back to normal price from being free yesterday .

Morning folks. Overcast warm and windy. Had to run the genny for pool maintenance, to fill water tank and laundry. Managed all in 90 mins. Now relying on bright cloudy sky to top up the batteries.

A Pelican. Loads of hippos bats and frogs.

No booze boats all weekend, Due we think to low water and recent hippo attack. Heard yesterday they got stuck in mud with a marauding hippo for 20 mins =)) The women usually scream for no reason. Apparently they were screaming for a reason this time. :YMPARTY:

18c, 21c from the stones, Dome

Nice funeral many more than I expected and not a prayer in sight, Pink Floyd !
A good send off.

My feet, which swell at the best of times, swelled so much in my proper shoes I could hardly walk.
I have mentioned to Ms Medico twice but she seems reluctant to do much.

Electricity was zero-rated in Spain yesterday Sunday 5th November from 0800?-1800. Yes, it was free. It wasn't announced in advance (nothing free ever is in Spain) but I saw it mentioned on breakfast TV. Two loads of washing done, pool pump on, water heaters on, a/c on (heat).

Free power ordered by the Prime Minister. Entirely unconnected with forthcoming Election. Voters would not be that stupid, eh ?

Good morning, clear sky, 2.1°C expecting 15°C, I bet it'll be warmer. When I first looked out, a fat yellow crescent Moon in the north with Venus glittering to its right, a rosy eastern horizon, and a frosty rime on neighbour's roof. Blackbirds singing.

9/15. Went for my final test for a hearing aid this afternoon and I'm going to get one in each side. Fitted next week.. Mrs 1DC and I are getting our flu jabs in the morning, we suddenly remembered that we had forgotten about them and went on the NHS web site last night and got appointments for tomorrow morning. Wind is still in the SW on the Humber but it feels cooler, definitely autumnal. Only 10C today but 7C in the wind. The heating has made it to three rooms. Time to start thinking about completing my income tax, although it will take me until December to think about it!

Good morning all, 14/15 today, all my guesses except the River Liffey one were correct. Best score ever, I think. Maybe I should have a bet in the Melbourne Cup.

Blue sky here, currently 17C, forecast max 25C, shaping up for a nice day. Workshop day today, but I'll try to find an excuse to do something outside as well.
