Dropped MrsWoody off at Perry Oaks at lunchtime, huge queue at security, apparently massive failure of HAL security systems, can’t imagine why ~X(

Good morning on Friday: 7.7°C, expecting 14°C, mostly cloudy but Mr Sun will come out this afternoon.

The Man Who Mows the Lawns will be here this morning swingin' his little axe, cutting back the neighbour's camellias that are overhanging the fence, and anything else I direct him to do - probably some of the driveway shrubs.

Good morning all, 13/15 today. Thunderstorms late yesterday, some places lost power and internet went down briefly. Cloudy today, currently 16C, forecast max 29C.

14° here and looks like cloud in the Stygian gloom of 7am. Shopping day, then returning router to Telefonica as they are still billing me for cancelled contract.

Morning folks. Hot again broken Cu. Small car cleaned. Was going to take it out last weekend but wouldn't be seen dead in it.

Re: Armistice Day 2023

...A land of bar’d boughs and grieving wind;
Yet would I not forego the doom, the place,
Whither my poets and my heroes went
Before me; warriors that with deeds forlorn
Saddened my youth, yet made it great to live;
Lonely antagonists of Destiny,
That went down scornful before many spears.
Who soon as we are born, are straight our friends;
And live in simple music, country songs.
And mournful ballads by the winter fire…

(From Marpessa, 1897, by Stephen Phillips)

Blue dome skies; currently 5.6°C, will warm quickly to 21°C.

Also it is Martinmas. Hope you in the north experience St Martin's Little Summer.

To RSA later this morning for the Armistice Day commemorations at 11am;
afterwards to pay a visit to the Museum.

Just so you know nothing heard from over the bay since 30/10.
I have tried Mobile, WhatsApp, and both e-mails that I have. Concerned.

The e-mails look shared so I am hoping that Mrs IB picks up on one and responds.

I know that we are - intermittently - several hours ahead of the cousins, but I think there has been an upset in the space/time continuum. All I see and hear on the media at the moment are adverts for Black Friday, even though it's only the 10th of November. My understanding of this whole Black Friday thing is that it began because everyone stayed at home after Thanksgiving Thursday, so they made price reductions to get the punters through the door. Naturally, the idea drifted across the Atlantic on the prevailing westerlies, and now we're stuck with it, even though we don't celebrate Thanksgiving of course. Would any of our esteemed colonial correspondents care to comment? :)

Think they should call it Black November.
As soon as Halloween was over all stores went into full Christmas mode.
Costco was actually selling decorations last month and I have seen quite a few houses with lights, etc. already up.

An adventure today, winding up my contract with Moviestar (€88 a month for two megabytes and a phone connection. Replaced by a local fibre supplier, €35 a month for over twenty times that and an unlimited SIM for a mobile phone and a landline.) Part of the cancellation was handing back the Moviestar router and getting a receipt. Went far better than expected.
