Thanks Hydro

And now for something completely different...a piece of quintessential seaside.

No guesses?
This is what you would see turning through 180 deg.

Thanks Smeagol. Thinking about this one I'm not sure if it's not a bit obscure but let's see how it goes. I'll therefore give some pointers - the pic shows all that now remains of an industrial site in a rural part of the UK. Production ceased at the end of the last century and as you can see the whole site bar these buildings has been cleared and landscaped:

The railings on the right are on the end of a bridge over a river.

The brick building was the admin block for the site which in it's production days used a lot of water and energy. There is no other habitation in the immediate vicinity and it took the name of a village (pop about 1,500) just under two miles to the NW. As can be seen it had a rail connection to a main line not far away in the same direction. In the other direction there is a motorway about half a mile away which gets very busy in the Summer months.

4m appears to be correct (and welcome back!). I was born less than 3 miles from there! Always known by the locals as Bridge Mill.

Much closer. One can see elephants from the swimming pool. But they are in a zoo.

Need to think about this from the clues.

Nearer Botswana than France implies not likely in Europe and possibly in Africa.

Nearer to Ex A, although not stated, than Capetown.

Looks UK colonial and the greenery, jacaranda trees?, means, maybe southern africa.

Perhaps Zimbabwe.

I agree with your logic TC but we do not have zoos down here. Reserves and game parks but not zoos.

I did wonder about Nairobi, there was/is some kind of zoo there (a flight engineer stroked my back while we were looking at some snakes, nearly had a heart attack!), and we used to stay in a hotel next to the zoo in Khartoum.

I cannot recall a pink building in either place though.

If, on the other hand, he means my guess was nearer maybe we are in South Africa but not Capetown.

I'll try, in South Africa?
