Morning folks. Heavy rain overnight but now sunny with a few clouds and 14c. High of 21c thought possible.

The redelivery of madam's sandals by the Man in Brown didn't happen, as I suspected it wouldn't. It appears man responsible refuse to collect package from where he had dumped it and insisted we collect it by 6 May. So have advised supplier by email, that as they cannot effect delivery, order is cancelled and a full refund to credit card is now required. They should arrange with Men in Brown to return the package to them.
Some person claiming to be from the Men in Brown rang from a private mobile at just after 21.00 last night, but was unable to speak in English. Told him to wamos.

To placate madam have sourced a replacement pair of sandals at a Southampton shop which are now held for me and will pick up Sunday.

Good Moring All,

16c guess 20c, high haze.

Off for the foot ordeal shortly.

'Gardener' i.e. man with strimmer usually wants 180€ for two men 1 day. He has asked me for 260€ 1man not quite two days. "everything has gone up" by which he means fuel.
I concede things are up but that's a lot. Haggled him down to 220€ which I have reluctantly paid.

Morning folks. Clear skies 27°C. 50 Kgs of fertilizer went on the lawns this morning and watered in. We just fertilize the grass spring and autumn.

Pay day for the staff. The gardener always runs out by the weekend and wants an advance. This means more bank charges for us. I told him to ask for tomorrow's advance today to be added on to his monthly pay. Bet he still runs out. The NRs here spend money as soon as they are given it.

Optician yesterday said glasses would be ready in 3-4 days. SMS to say that they are ready now. Excellent service, if they work.

Some thieving little black bastard has had all he oranges off one tree. It will be on CCTV but I am not sitting for hours/days watching playback. Good news is that we have our first clementines.

You have my sympathy, Woody. As someone who is in almost constant back pain (broke it in crash 30 years ago. official Medical diagnosis at the time was .."an unstable compression fracture* of Lumbar 1 vertebrae") I do indeed know how you feel!

* Squashed it to less than a quarter of its normal size and broke it into 5 or 6 pieces.

No longer required as long as you have an EU vaccination certificate confirming full vaccination.

The SpTH app combines lots of different information in addition to the EU pass, much of it unrelated to Covid. An inveterate hater of providing info., I nevertheless thought it a Good Thing, although as after one trial flight we shall revert to using the train in future, we won't need it.

Morning all. Puppy cam is now live at https://llondel.com/puppy/ Three boys, three girls, born on Thursday. We nearly lost one on Saturday, he went floppy and unresponsive but has pulled through and hopefully they're all past that stage now, although bad things can still happen.

Popping in and out of your puppywebcam and being 9 hours ahead of you, I am wondering how tired you must be supervising sleep and feeding times in the wee hours. (*) :YMAPPLAUSE: ^:)^

I see that, occasionally, a couple of pups are isolated in the basket.

Lotsa rain happening which is to be expected as it is once again washing day and to make matters worse I awoke feeling a bit on the down side, courtesy of Covid shot #4 and flu
shot yesterday so today will be spent lounging around interspersed with naps. I know this sounds hard but someone has to do it. :D

Forecast was for T storms this morning. Forecast was wrong, nothing on the radar. Birds singing, cat dozing under the car port roof, first cups of char being drunk, chota hazri up next, then out for the Financial Times to read of Amazon woes.

Long Bank Holiday weekend starts today. Having lunch with my better half and my local craftsman, come aircraft restorer, friend. Day has dawned fine with nary a cloud in the blue sky. One of the Pibblers is making with the Z's in the wicker chair next to me, proving that for the Pibblers, life is just one long languorous slack out. Cats have their noodles screwed on the right way!

Only a dew days to my trip to SA, albeit only a short visit. Cape Town first, to visit my son, old cronies etc. then drive up the Route 62, with a stop at Ronnie's Sex shop, and then onwards to Oudtshoorn to stay with another old school, and ex army, friend, who once threatened to shoot me, surely I can't have been that irritating? =))

From there to the Wilderness, to visit more friends and listen to the Indian Ocean and then further up the Garden Route via Nature's Valley to Grahamstown to visit the sage at Rhodes, FX, scholar, curmudgeon and philosopher. A hectic schedule all told.

Perhaps I shall just slack out this weekend in preparation. Move on over Pibblers I am joining you on the sofa!
Though you remain
Convinced
"To be alive
You must have somewhere
To go
Your destination remains
Elusive."
