Back in February I saw an article by the chief virologist in Queensland (In the 'Australian' newspaper stating that 'everyone' will get this coronavirus), I read it in the Australian on a Friday off work at the pub, delightful.

Then....2 weeks after that I read an article about virologists at the Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital who discovered that Corona - 19 (Wu-Flu) was destroyed in petrie dishes by Hydroxychloroquine...then some time after that Mr Trump ala orange muppet called it a game changer...

I took note of this for no other reason than I walked past the QLD Virus unit everyday day whilst undergoing Hyperbaric Oxygen chamber treatment at the Royal Brisbane & Womens Hospital.....so I knew the building ...and often wondered what sort of nasties where inside..

PN, if you are referring to the prophylactics dished out by HMQ in warmer climes as a preventative for malaria, then yes I believe they were Chloraquin. Took them from places as diverse as Bahrain to K'sar, and then out to Changi, Seletah and Butterworth.

Hydroxychloroquine was developed from chloroquine to fix an eye related side effect chloroquine caused.
Heard on the news this morning.

Nowt.

I've asked my dochter, who is a doctor three times over (yes, really and expensively), that same question; and each time she gives me the same answer.

No.

She got her bitchiness side from her mother's side of the family.

She, & her muvver, still are well provided for.

"No", to your question on the wrongness of a large G & T.

Your round, I believe, Magnus.

Yes is my usual answer, if only by politeness, in the club bar.

Nothing wrong with G&T. I woke up in bed with my previous girlfriend after seeing pink spots in front of my eyes after a surfeit of the same. The G&T's didn't lead me astray and I am sorry that I eventually treated her abominably after 8 years post that gin! We are heir to our own bad natures, not the drinks we drink...

My teeth are bored. I just keep eating rubbish. No real exercise apart from a bit of gardening, so my blood sugar is constantly high. My weight isn't bad (79kg and I'm 1.81m), but my core strength is getting poor. The "lockdown" is going to cause as many problems as it prevents.
so, you'd prefer suffocating on a ventilator? :ymdevil:

In 1963-64 the mess in Sharjah had bowls of salt tablets, bowls of vitamin tablets and bowls of Paludrine on every table.

I believe that sailors were allowed a ration of rubberwear when they were on shore leave?

In the 1980s the Shell Residential restaurant at Rumukoroshe had the same. On Sundays they added a bowl of Malaprim.

Not me, not harsh - just the realities of life. And death. Which is the prognosis for the fatal disease we all have, as AKraft pointed out.

Good one Probes.
There was a philosophical medic. who made the point that, in his experience, the people who died well may not have been volunteers but when the time came the ones who died well were the ones who "accepted" death not the ones who fought against it.

PtP, 4 out of 54 died - 7.5%. Please remind me of the death rate of the CV deaths in France.

14,393 from 132,591 - 10.8% and those deaths don't allow for those in the 132591 that will also die.

CV stats, a statisticians delight, you can cut the numbers any way you wish.
Pontius; I concede your point. However, what I possibly should have also done is include the rest of the quote given in the article. It said...
In cases where the drug has clear benefits for patients, it can be worth such risks, said Dr Drici, a physician and pharmacologist. But, he said, "For the coronavirus, we have a drug that's coming with no proven benefit and a clear cardiac risk" He called for the drug to be administered only to hospitalised patients, who would require close monitoring.
You only live twice. Once when you're born. Once when you've looked death in the face.
