Tom - that pic at Kenyon Hall.. I love it too!
As I taxyed out the photographer said "Keep it low and I'll get a good photo of you". Kenyon Hall is short, but at the upwind end is a big gap in the hedge so I got airborne, held the Chippy down as it accelerated, and flew through that gap before climbing away. The picture was taken just before I flew through the gap.
Note T/O flap set, and a bit of left rudder with elevator neutral, due full power in level flight.

After a day of civil engineering on the canal - we had built some steps and a small footbridge so walkers won't go A over T on the diversion around the lock restoration. I'm in the white hat.

SSD, love the paintwork on the Chippy, my school looked out over Hamble Airfield which was choc a block with Chippy's training pilots.

Along the lines of Tony D, also from 1947, I offer:

That is our man in the background catching the main course. We had hacked our way with machetes though hippo channels to get the boat to this location on the Boro river.
